IMPORTANT: PlayStation 4 Region Selection (Action required)

Posted by Snowcastle Games (Creator)

Hello Backers,

This announcement is for PlayStation 4 backers, please disregard if this doesn't apply to you!

As we approach the PlayStation 4 release on Friday, we have noticed a lot of discrepancies between personal addresses and the specific regions selected for your PS4 code. We have send out emails through backer kit requesting you to double check and select your specific region for your PS4 code (Action required). You can also log in to Backerkit through the link below using your email you used to back us on Kickstarter.

Thanks in advance for doing this, as it will help us get you guys your copy that much sooner! :)

Kind Regards,
Andrew and The Snowcastle Team

Happy Holidays!

A Good Year!

It has been a very exciting year for us!

So much hard labour, but the joy of getting all the positive feedback from players makes it well worth it. With the latest improvements to the game we are now climbing on the user reviews on Steam and passed up to Very Positive this week.

We are on track for a Playstation 4 launch both digital and physical on January 27th for the Europe region and very shortly there after for American region.

The Wii U version is still requiring some more optimisation, but we are making good progress. Current release estimate is mid February. There is no news on the Nintendo Switch though.

GOG version is ready to be released in January.

Part of the team is now working on the next game in the Earthlock series!

Happy Holidays and thank you for all the support in 2016!

-Snowcastle Team

A Quick Update

Last Sunday, November 27th we released the new languages on Steam. For those of you waiting for the Xbox One localization, we’re currently working on implementing them and are hoping/planning to have them in the game before the Christmas Holiday starts!

Playstation 4

Still no official date but we are making great progress in the certification process and are confident of a VERY early 2017 launch!

We are having small issues with our audio transition to the WiiU system, but it’s nothing we can’t handle and are on schedule for a similar launch date as for PS4.

Steam Reviews - Your help needed.

For those of you who have activated the game on Steam, if you have played and enjoyed the game, we would really appreciate a steam review.

That's it for now.

Kind Regards,
Andrew and the Snowcastle Team

Progress Update and Localization Announcement

Posted by Snowcastle Games (Creator)

In this Update:

  • Platform Status
  • Localization Update
  • Status Update
  • Quick Note

After having launched the game on XboxOne and Steam we have taken the time to go over the feedback from our players. It’s was obvious from this feedback that the first part of the game needed some attention and so we spent most of October addressing this:

  • Prologue/Tutorial - based on player feedback, we decided to makes some changes in the way we begin our game and how tutorials are introduced, making the whole experience a lot smoother and more effective.
  • Guidance - we also have seen some players getting lost and unsure where to head next. We’ve added a lot more guidance for the player and have made major plot points clearer.
  • Optimization - we’ve worked countless hours optimizing the game and making it more stable and smooth.
  • Balancing - we’ve tweaked and balanced the game in numerous places and have also added a better way of informing you on where your current level stands compared to the enemies you are fighting.

Initial feedback indicate that these changes have had the impact we hoped. While doing the improvements, we postponed launching the game on GOG.

Playstation 4

Making these adjustments has pushed the earliest Playstation 4 launch date towards the holiday season which is very problematic for a small indie studio. The holidays are dominated by AAA studios with their gigantic marketing budgets. With a longer lead time we will also able to do better outreach and make as much splash in the market as possible ahead of the PS4 release, which will be easier if we avoid the holiday madness. We are also coordinating our digital Playstation 4 launch with the launch of boxed versions of the game for Xbox One, PC and Playstation 4 which will be early 2017.

We decided to use a third party service to port Earthlock to the WiiU. This will allow us to release the game sooner. We will release on WiiU as soon as the game is ready, which looks to be in the similar time frame as the PS4 version.

We will be launching on GOG once all the changes listed above are made to provide the best experience at launch.

Localization Update

The game has been localized in 7 new languages and they will be available November 27th, on Steam. In no particular order:

  • French
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Italian
  • Polish
  • Norwegian

These languages will be released on Xbox as well in the near future.

Quick Note: We Need Your Help

If anyone like to help us, a simple review on either Steam or XboxStore would be of great value. History has shown that you guys have been extremely helpful in getting the word about Earthlock out there. Once again we ask you to keep spreading the word, sharing our Facebook posts, retweeting our tweets, posting your own updates, and simply posting a review on either Steam or XboxStore would be of great value - anything you can do to help get the game known. We are so grateful for your continued support. Our Kickstarter backers rock!

Official Steam Launch for PC and Mac

Posted by Snowcastle Games (Creator)

We have officially launched on Steam for PC and Mac.

Once again, a big thank you to all of you for backing us, we could not of made it this far without you. Another thank you to all of those who beta tested the game, solving many problems for us and saving invaluable production time.

Known Steam Issue: "Your recent Product code activation has been revoked due to a problem processing payment for this item."

We apologize for the inconvenience transitioning from beta to full launch has caused. It is unfortunate that Steam doesn't have a better system in place for this. For those backers who have requested the Steam version, you should have received an email with your new key from backerkit.

Production Schedule Moving Forward

Though we have come far, we still have a long ways to go and we have the complete intention of fulfilling the promises we've made to you. Once we have tackled the full Steam launch we will be allocating more and more resources towards DRM/PS4/Linux/WiiU and we'll continue to work on bringing you these versions as soon as possible.

We wish we could give you a more accurate timeline with official launches, but with the resources we have, that is just not possible. We truly thank you for your patience and understanding,

Andrew Potter and The Snowcastle Team
