Watchmen of Destiny box contents: 50 watchman cards, 11 item cards, 28 tent cards, 4 reference cards & Rules
They are savage, dangerous and covered in blood, but if you give them their money, you are on the safe side. Mercenaries are totally unique new cards that are different from the watchmen. Mercenaries can help you economically, they can harm your opponent and they activate global events! This expansion brings you a different strategic element and it offers new options. It also spices up and dramatizes a 2-player game. Artwork is not suitable for kids and those who don't have stomach for it :-)

King Rowan, the supreme ruler of the land, wants to protect the magic tree of Destiny from people who might misuse its power. This tree is very special – whoever eats its fruit gains strength like no one else in the realm. This could be very dangerous especially if the kings from the neighbouring lands heard about it and tried to seize the kingdom from Rowan. The king is afraid, so he calls his closest advisors to his court and says: "My dear, wise advisors, you are the men I trust the most. I have a task for you. You shall go and find me the greatest army of 7 watchmen who will protect the Tree of Destiny. One of you who will manage to assemble the best army, will be given a great fortune. This is a very important task and I hope, it goes without saying, to keep it a secret. Now go. I rely on you."
Rahdo's detailed run-through:
Watchmen of Destiny is a card game for 2-5 people. Your role, as a player, will be to hire 7 watchmen who, at the end, may be given the prerogative to protect the Tree of Destiny. Watchmen you hire may be of different species (dog, cat, otter, owl & rabbit) and classes (warrior, assassin, ninja, mage & hunter). Each class has different abilities that can help you during the game.
Watchmen don’t offer their services for free, you have to pay them in order to hire them. Some of them will accept just two pieces of gold, but others could be more demanding. But remember, the more expensive watchman you hire, the stronger army you have! Also, the road back to the king’s castle will be long and nights will be cold, so each watchman has to have a tent to lay his head during these cold nights. It’s good to assemble the army fast, but the most important thing is that they are the strongest (=most valuable). The king’s reward is awaiting you!
Watchmen of Destiny is played over a series of rounds, and each player can do 4 steps in his turn. Note that step 1 is obligatory, others are optional. Steps 2, 3, and 4 can be played in any order. Steps 2 and 4 can be played more times. All the watchmen could be either hired or used as a means of payment. Your resources for the transactions are all the pieces of gold on the cards you have in your hand, combined.
Each player can do 4 steps in his turn:
Step 1: Pick out one item for the round
Pick one item out of two or three items, that are at your disposal. Each item card has its own special effect and it will determine how many cards you draw and how many actions you can perform.
Step 2: Purchase the tent(s)
Each tent costs one (1) piece of gold. You have to discard a watchman card in order to purchase a tent. Pieces of gold on cards you discard = number of tents you purchase
Step 3: Hire a watchmanThe principle of hiring a watchman is the same as the principle of purchasing a tent. Each watchman has a different price. Pieces of gold on cards you discard has to be at least the price of the watchman.
Step 4: Perform actions
Each round you can perform different number of actions, depending on the item you chose. Type of actions depends on watchmen in your army.
End of the round: At the end of each round players exchange their items in a special way that is described in the rulebook in detail.
End of the game: When one of the players hires his 7th watchman, the game ends on that round. Neither the cards in your hand nor empty tents count for the points at the end of the game. Each player counts the points (you can find details in the rulebook). Different species hired for your army (by you) can DRAMATICALLY influence extra points for the victory. The player with the most points is the winner of the game.
Risks and challenges
The game has been finalized. The main challenge I am facing is collecting funds to print out the game. Of course it depends on you, my backers, if this game is a success in the future.
I already have a deal with a printing company - I made sure that everything goes smoothly once Watchmen of Destiny is funded. I want to bring you WoD as soon as possible. So far the estimated delivery date (month) is September 2016, but I will do my best to get it to you as soon as possible.
When the funding is successful, I am ready then to take the next step - moving Watchmen of Destiny into production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
