No matter how much we like modern games, at some point, we've all felt nostalgic about the old, classic, 2D, action, side-scrolling games! Simple and challenging for both the hardcore and casual gamer.
Here's the scenario: One of the few intelligent survivors of a war-torn Earth, Korak witnessed the return of mankind from the skies: humans who had taken refuge at a space station, returned to re-populate their planet. But instead of aid, he found himself cast away, thrown to the slums with the other survivors, the mutants. Now, enemy to both sides, he sets off on a journey to harness a hidden power within...You wake up after cryogenics suspension, only to realize you remember nothing. You've lost your memory.There's a radio distress signal, so that triggers your goal to find the source of this signal and make sense of what on earth is happening. It won't be easy: you will face mutants of all sorts; each one scarier and intent on eating or killing you. But you must defeat them, you must survive. You will travel to over 10 unique locations on your search and at your disposal will be over 20 exclusive weapons.
What makes Dark Dawn amazing?
Dark Dawn is a game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, it explores the old school style of 2D with amazing hand-painted graphics and unique music, all created specifically for the needs of the game.
Dark Dawn hits a number of different genres at the same time. It falls into Action, Survival, Reaction, and Tactics, all while remaining "Casual". We aren't new to games at Genius Dog. We've looked to our favorite classic action games for everything from level design to platform width, exceeding the adrenaline norm of the best action games and all while creating something simple enough to dive into anywhere.
Dark Dawn uses a unique mechanic that controls day and night. By nightfall, the mutants grow more aggressive and stronger while the chances to find power-ups and ammo are significantly lower than the day, though available in larger amounts. Also during the night, there are more chances that you will face unique mutants who don't like the day light.
When will it be released?
Dark Dawn is currently slated to be released in Fall of 2013.
What platforms can I play it on? The game will be available for Android and iOS first, and then will be released it on PC, Linux, Mac and Ouya.
Here at Genius Dog, we love creating games as much as we love playing them, and we want to share this love for play to the world. We hope Dark Dawn will serve as our breakthrough in the industry. Kickstarter gives us the opportunity to share this passion to the world.
So far, we've been making good progress on the game. Getting funded will enable us to acquire the resources needed to finish the production with good quality: producing the music and sound effects, hire a full-time programmer, obtain development-software licenses, compatibility-testing services and create further content. We believe that the best games are made by gamers for gamers, so through Kickstarter we welcome YOU help us and welcome you to be a part of our vision. Through your feedback and contribution you will help build the Dark Dawn world in its finished form.
The Goal is to drive the hero through endless hordes of
mutants that stand in your way through a variety of weapons and special
Levels: We are planning to have over ten unique locations, with different weather and time-zones.
Power-Ups : Ammo and money will be scattered throughout your path and will also be dropped from your enemies on the way to achieve your goal.
Passive Abilities : The hero will unlock passive abilities to help him on his quest, allowing full customization of your character.

We worked carefully to make the original soundtrack unique and capture
the spirit of the theme of the game, and make every moment on the game a

Most of the rewards are pretty self-explanatory, but I will take a moment and explain a few in detail.
The Game itself is the most basic reward, and with digital delivery upon the release date, it guaranteed that you will play the game first.
The Wallpapers,as you will receive a collection of Dark Dawn wallpapers for your PC and Mobile Devices!
The Soundtrack of the Game : The original music that was specifically composed for its needs and captures its fast pace and atmosphere!
Game Credits and Special Thanks Credits : Your name will appear in alphabetical order under the "Backers, You are Awesome" category! For the "Special Thanks Credits", your name will appear under the tab "Hall of the survivors Special Thanks" tab!
Art Book : A PDF art book with all the concept art of the game!
The T-shirt : you can choose between one of the 4 unique pictures and we are going to send it to you, no matter where you are. (please include 10£ for the shipping cost in your pledge.)
The Achievement : You will decide a phrase or word and we will name an achievement for you!
The Messenger : You will decide a phrase or word and we will add it inside the game for everyone to see, as a graffiti, sign or blood stain!
The Exclusive Kickstarter weapon reward : There is going to be a secret weapon accessible ONLY to people who will pledge on rewards that include that weapon.
The weapon Designer : Work with our artist and create a weapon of your choice, from a frying pan and machine guns to an egg launcher, or whatever you can imagine. The weapon will be required to be unlocked in the game in order to be used. Moreover, you name will be mentioned in the credits as a co-creator of the specific weapon!
The Monster Designer : Work closely with our artist and create a monster to roam the streets of the Dark Dawn world and make the life of our hero even more difficult. It can be anything, as long it fits the theme of the game, and your Monster will be a rare spawn in the levels. Whatsmore, you name will be mentioned in the credits as a co-creator of the specific monster!
The Level Designer :You'll be able to work closely with our artist to create a level as you want it. It will be added as a secret level and your name will appear in the credits as a co-creator of the level!
The Collection : Do you have an idea for a weapon or a monster that you want to see in the game, or for a level and a weapon? Choose 2 rewards from the high tiers 200/250/320 that please you the most and have your name listed in the credits as co-creator of those items!
The Hero reward : work closely with our artist to create a costume for our hero. it will be your exclusively idea. the costume will be locked in the game, and it will require to be unlocked in order to use, but you will have access to the costume upon release, and you name will appear in the credits as co-creator of the costume.
We have already completed one third of the Game, which includes the characters, the story line, the majority of the weapons, 3 of the Game's environments and the mechanics of the Game. We are very satisfied with our framework and timetable so far and we are positive that we will have everything ready, with your help, on time for its release date.

Risks and challenges
We love video games and Dark Dawn is the product of a lifelong dream of creating video games. With your help and shared love for classic games, we can build this dream into a reality. But one person's vision is not enough to produce and develop an entire game of this scale. Your pledged funds will be allocated to the development and production costs of this game.
To turn our vision of Dark Dawn into a reality, we have spent the past several months conceptualizing, drawing and working on the game designs and animations. It wasn't always easy, but the result is a pretty good-looking game, as you can see in the game screens above. There will always be challenges ahead, but we believe that achieving goals are never without obstacles, but the right mix of passion, skills, and dedicated hard-work are enough to keep us from being daunted of the challenges and to remain optimistic that this game will be produced.
£6,300 minus Kickstarter fees, costs for rewards, is a lot of money. we have put a lot of thought and time to assess budgetary and production costs needed to cover Dark Dawn's development. With your support, Dark Dawn will be produced and completed, within schedule, and you will love playing it just as much as we loved creating it.

If i can tell my ideas and you guys impliment them in the game no matter if am a backer or not, what the point of the rewards like The weapon Designer.
Our goal is to create a game that everyone will love and enjoying playing,so everyone can participate and tell us their ideas from the parts of the game that we will show in the Art & Community Updates. The Difference with the rewards is that people that have support our effort their ideas will have priority in case of many different ideas on a specific subject, the high tier rewards like The weapon Designer will be exclusively created with the backers that have taken those rewards,our artist will work with those backers to create each weapon, enemy, level, avatar according to their likeness, and will not be show in any Art & Community Update.It will be showed only in Progress Update only if the backer want it. In those specific rewards the backer will have the first and final word.
