When we were little girls growing up in the forests of North Idaho, we built little homes, played house and pretended we were princesses. Now we play with melodies and lyrics, harmonies and strings.
We moved to Nashville, TN in the winter of 2014 and began to slowly build our presence in a city of stars. Mostly we learned things. How to do things. How to not do things.
We received a few contract offers, but opted to stay independent and maintain full control of our musical sound and direction. We decided to not hit the road touring, and instead dreamed up a new name called Playground and began to work with tremendous talent in our city. Eventually, we felt compelled to go back into the studio and create our greatest project yet - Fairytales and Colored Dreams - a record about love, celebration, grief and happiness.
Born out of struggle, the fairytales became a way to understand the greatest lessons in life and a way to describe them. We turned to them as we fell in love and needed words to describe the feeling; and then, we clung to them when our hearts were broken and couldn't be rescued by anything else.
In this record Cinderella makes an appearance as a girl afraid of commitment, Snow White becomes our way to talk about being fooled and Neverland transforms into a song of hope for children in slavery. We talk about the twinkling emotions of falling in love like Sleeping Beauty and true love's kiss, and about how, contrary to the popular tale, sometimes the Beauty in someone cannot cure the Beast in another.
It’s our voices and songs, but brought to life by a brilliant, all-star instrumental and production cast of Music City, USA including Tanner Lenox (production), Jarin Bressler (production), Wendell Henry (drums), Jason Webb (piano), Jacob Lowrey (bass), Paul Shearer (guitars), Dick Tunney (string arrangement), Bobby Shin (string engineer), Bryan Lenox (mastering) and others. Together these elements make up the musical experience that is Neverland and the upcoming Fairytales and Colored Dreams.
We’re calling out to the people who watch our performances online and in Nashville, to family and friends and people we’ve snuck into the backseats of our cars to listen to our new melodies.
Because we have only thirty days to bring this dream to life.
Our plan? >> 1.) With your help and the reaching of our $10,000 goal, we will finish recording the eight songs on the Fairytales and Colored Dreams album.
2.) After the songs have been recorded, we will complete post-production and release each of the songs individually throughout the year. As music fans of almost every genre of music, we know that most of our audience gets as excited about a new single as they do about an entire album. Since the vast majority of our fans will be online, we intend to build a vast and highly-engaged audience by dropping single after single all year long until the entire album has been released.
3.) The budget of the kickstarter will only provide the making of the music, so for extra finances that will allow us to do much more, we will be focusing on TV and film placements. We'll be performing special, exclusive shows for our fans in the future, but because of the musical experience we intend for these to be, they will be few-and-far-between.
4.) As we build up these other, nontraditional avenues for income, our dream is to eventually make the music of Playground available free-of-charge to anyone in the world.
So to you hardworking moms and dads of the world who might have forgotten how to dream, you teenagers falling asleep at night with music in your ears, you ambitious twenty-somethings who need a musical movement that wants to change the world as much as you do; and to all of you bright-eyed, wonderstruck children who inspire us every day - this music is for you. We love you all and we need you now more than ever.
If you're longing to get lost in magic again, to wander into hope, feel bravery blazing on your chest and believe that whether it's a castle you're storming or a business you're building, a damsel you're saving or a queen you're becoming, anything is possible.
Maybe all you need is a door into your kingdom of possibilities. We want to be that door. Let us summon the stars for you so all you have to do is walk in.
Join the movement of Playground and bring this music to life by backing us now.
All our love!

Risks and challenges
Investing in musicians always comes with risks, the greatest being: what if the musician can't pay back the label or the agency, or whoever is holding the reins? We are very aware of this risk, which is why we have avoided entangling ourselves with the industry at present. We owe nothing on the project at hand and intend to continue that way with this project and all of our upcoming projects. We're going for the slow build: not many people pushing it from the start, but at the end of the day, not many people asking for dollar bills, rights or placing ridiculous demands on us.
Of course there's also the risk that we will quit on everybody and stop making music, but we'd like to alleviate that fear by stating that this music isn't something we do for the fame, recognition or money. We make music because we can't not make it. It's how we process our lives. And when we see the joy it brings others, holy cow! It just reminds us that the gift we have is not for ourselves, but for all of the ears who experience it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
