The reason most women are wearing the wrong size bra is that the traditional method for determining bra sizes is ridiculous!
Do you know a woman whose breasts can be measured with only two measurements? If you have ever struggled to find a bra that fits, this one is for you.
Meet Fitesse, a revolutionary bra that takes 5 measurements into account to give women a perfect fit. Our new sizing model measures the girth above and below each breast, the volume of each breast and the spacing between. Cups are sized by a corresponding fruit: Blueberry, Cherry, Plum, Peach, Grapefruit, Honeydew, Watermelon. Back bands are sized by: XS, S, M, L, XL, and the center spacer is 0, 1, 2, or 3. See detailed instructions for measuring yourself (coming soon) or get our special measuring tape free in the mail. Women can now build their ideal bra, choosing from:
- padded to regular molded cups (even selecting different style/size cups to even out uneven breasts);
- regular, padded, clear or low-stretch straps;
- slim, smoothing or clear back; and
- a spacer to put the cups at the most comfortable place on the body.
"Using the super dumb traditional measurement system I measure a 30E, so finding a well-fitting bra has always been a challenge," says Founder and Chief Inventor, Kim Castellano. "I have been working on Fitesse for 3 years as a personal quest, as well as one for all the other women like me who have wasted too much time and energy bra shopping. In Fitesse, I measure Grapefruit XS, no spacer."
Fitesse is meant to be your bra for every day and every occasion, so it comes in beige and black and is configurable to wear with T-backs and sheer tops. If one part stops fitting or gets stretched out over time, you save money by only replacing the piece that no longer works, not the whole enchilada. Future plans include more sizes, a strapless and backless version, as well as a maternity option.
We are offering the first 50 supporters one custom Fitesse system for only $30. Additional supporters can purchase a bra for $40. All of these will be shipped on 15 June, 2015. Everyone else will have to wait until late July to receive theirs. And don't worry if it doesn't fit, since Fitesse comes with free returns. Due to the overwhelming support, we will be offering more sizes than we originally anticipated, but currently up to approximately 34G/36F/38E/40D or one size larger. But with more support and requests, we will keep going, so sign up for our email updates and let us know your requests. And we will ship worldwide starting in July.
Please share this with other women and please support us in our quest to better support you.
Fitesse is the latest product from Kim Leone Castellano's Fashion First Aid. Fashion First Aid invents and manufactures both wacky and useful personal care products that you will never see someone else wearing, unless you take off his/her clothes. Based in Sun Valley, Idaho, Fashion First Aid began in 1999 with one product, Garment Guard: disposable underarm shields (because the founder was a broke law student who was tired of her expensive white t-shirts getting ruined by underarm taco stains.) Now, with over 50 products on the market, 10+ in the works, and a light and upbeat book entitled The Dirty Side of Fashion, the corporate mission is still to save the world from beauty and fashion disasters and help make clothes last longer.
Risks and challenges
A bra as complex as this requires sourcing components from many different suppliers. We have a principal supplier and also a backup supplier for each part. So even if there is a problem with one item, we can still use our backup, although that will add some additional time. Also, as the final assembly is done overseas, there could be shipping delays as labor disputes are currently causing delays and backups at the port of Los Angeles. However, the first bras are being airfreighted to ensure an on-time shipping date of 15 June.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
