Announcing PicoStill, Your Craft Beverage Distillery

Last week we told you that Pico was the ultimate kitchen appliance, this week we’re just going to blow your mind.

Today we are announcing, PicoStill, a first-of-its-kind, patent-pending distilling attachment that is compatible with all of our Pico® and Zymatic® brewing appliances. PicoStill is a gorgeous accessory topped with a sleek copper distilling coil and clear glass infusion chamber that fits over the Pico C Keg and can be used to distill hop oil, water, and essential oils. (Of course, with proper licenses and permits, the PicoStill can be used to distill delicious spirits as well).

Hop oils are typically used by commercial breweries to quickly infuse beers with distinct hops aromas and flavors, a process that is often achieved by “dry hopping”, which can take up to a week. However, up until now, hop oils have not been available in smaller quantities for producers who brew small batches of beer. PicoStill makes it possible for any brewer to create their own essential hop oils for use in brewing.

Licensed and properly permitted craft distillers can also use the PicoStill to produce a wide range of craft spirits, including vodka, whiskey, bourbon, moonshine, gin, brandies, schnapps and more. PicoStill operators must act in compliance with their local, state and national laws. As with beer production on PicoBrew devices, compliance with regulation and national and international law is the responsibility of the PicoStill owner.

“The PicoStill is an amazing tool for prototyping new batches of spirits as we perfect and expand on our line of vodka, bourbon and moonshine,” says Nathan Kaiser, Owner, 2bar Spirits in Seattle, one of the most successfully established craft distilleries in WA. “As a quickly growing craft distillery, the PicoStill will help us avoid costly and unnecessary large test batches so that we can make smart investments.”

PicoStill features a large infusion chamber that is crucial for essential oil extraction, but is also helpful for designing flavored spirits. Licensed distilleries will be able to use the still to test out small batches of new spirits and infusions before committing to larger batches.

This level of precision and safety in distilling has never been available before, and we’re excited to offer distillers ultimate control over their cuts using our patent-pending technology.

We will offer PicoStill on Kickstarter tomorrow at $170 (or $499 when bundled with a Pico Model C), but if you pledge today early birds will be able to receive a special One Day Only deal for the PicoStill at $150 (or $479 bundled with a Pico Model C).

With PicoStill, take your craft beverage making skills to the next level. Cheers to you Kickstarters!

      @David. Thanks for your support!

      @Justin. Since Zymatic can be adapted to use a Pico C keg upon which PicoStill is based, PicoStill can work with the Zymatic. The Pico C Wash Keg included with the PicoStill will have an adapter for Pico S/Zymatic customers. The Zymatic will require firmware upgrades to work with the PicoStill accessory.

      @Aaron. The PicoStill is designed for distilling hop oil, water and essential oils. We are not offering PicoPaks for spirits. Licensed and properly permitted craft distillers can use the PicoStill to produce a wide range of craft spirits, based on their recipes. (PicoStill operators must act in compliance with their local, state and national laws. As with beer production on PicoBrew devices, compliance with regulation and national and international law is the responsibility of the PicoStill owner.)

      Hey Saloni - To make spirits using the picostill (with Pico C) can we use our own ingredients for this purpose or do we need to purchase the supplies from Picobrew

      For Zymatic users, will anything additional need to be purchased to use the PicoStill? Or does this pledge level come with everything?

      Wow!!! This just keeps getting better and better. I added the pico still to my pico C pledge? Now I can't wait to get started. And I thought adding brew and serving kegs to the brew unlimited was fantastic. This just blows my mind and based on the early returns many others as well.

      @Saloni - if we wanted to add the PicoStill and an optional add on (say BrewUnlimited), still keep the original pledge selection and just update the amount pledged?

    13. Saloni Parikh Collaborator on April 17, 2017

      @Brian. @Kevin. @Kenneth. Keep your original Pico C pledge selected and just update your total pledge amount by $150 + shipping for the PicoStill. Can we get the $150, one day only, special by increasing our pledge? If so, how much is shipping for this and the extra kegs already added on? I'm adding $150 right now awaiting your reply! Thanks.

      Will there be packs available for making whiskies and vodkas, or are we on our own on that?
