A Testimonial Concert For Keith Tippett
A response to Keith Tippett's recent illness and consequent inability to work in the form of a fundraising concert by recent associates
Keith Tippett has been at the forefront of UK creative music for approaching 50 years. In that time he has led many of his own groups, has composed for many different ensembles, and has added his distinctive piano to groups as diverse as The Dedication Orchestra, Soft Machine and King Crimson.
In early 2018 Keith suffered a heart attack followed by pneumonia and other complications as a result of which he is currently absent from the concert stage and unable to earn a living.
This concert will feature several recent Tippett associates and luminaries, with profits going direct to Keith:
Matthew Bourne - piano
Graham Clark - violin and electric guitar
Martin Archer - saxophones
Dave Kane - bass
Peter Fairclough - drums
The programme will include some of Keith's own compositions plus pieces and improvisations by the ensemble.
We have chosen the beautiful Theatre of the RNCM for this afternoon performance because of Keith's association with the venue.
If too few people subscribe before the deadline date 30 May 2018, then the concert will not go ahead and your credit card will not be charged.
Risks and challenges
Discus Music is an experienced promoter of concerts, and there is no risk that the concert will not proceed, other than a failure to reach the break even cost target of £4500. Discus Music has previously run two successful funding campaigns which have delivered the promised reward.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
