About this project
It’s been fifty years since the curse struck Kennmouth. Since then, few have dared brave the dangers of the abandoned village. Even fewer came back in one piece. Kathryn Reed has her eyes set on the fishery waters of Kennmouth Bay, but she needs adventurers foolish enough to lift the dark curse. Will you be the heroes who finally rid Kennmouth of its denizens?
The Chapel on the Cliffs is a 5th edition horror adventure optimized for a group of 4-5 characters of 3rd level. In this module, the characters will need to explore the ruined village of Kennmouth and its surroundings, find out why a small army of skeletons rises from their graves every night to drive out intruders, and search for a way to lift this unholy curse.
In this adventure, you will get:
- Up to 10 hours of challenging gameplay
- 35 pages of high quality content
- Beautiful color illustrations and maps
- New monsters and magic items, including the famed Hand of Saint Sidvela, and the Guardian Beast
- New rules to deal with chases and sieges involving dozens of shambling skeletons
Uncover Dark Secrets
The adventure’s main location is the abandoned village of Kennmouth. As the characters explore its forlorn ruins and its surroundings, it will become clear the quiet little fishing village everyone used to know is long gone... Only whispers remain of what happened in the cellars of Kennmouth and the ancient barrow mound in the marshes to the north. Are you ready to unearth its dark secrets?
Survive the Horde
The clattering of metal against bone rolls like thunder across the cobble stones, as over a hundred shambling skeletons march the streets of Kennmouth at night. Brash adventurers may find themselves surrounded by an army of undead, and their only hopes of survival will be to barricade themselves in a house or outrun their relentless foes. Your heroes will need to survive against desperate odds, using thrilling new combat rules specifically designed to handle dozens of opponents!
The Kickstarter is going better than anything we had hoped for, and we’d love to use some of those extra funds to sweeten the deal for you. This is what we have in mind.
If we reach 3,000€ -- Reached!
We’ll add robust, properly tested guidelines on how to scale the adventure, including information on how to deal with divination magic and variant monster statistics for the guardian beast. The idea is to give you everything you need to run the adventure for groups of levels 2 to 5.
We’ll provide monster tokens and the floorplan of typical houses to run your sieges. Only backers who selected a reward that includes the Digital Map Pack will get these.
We’ll add extra illustrations to the lore book (pledges of 20€ or higher).
If we reach 4,500€ -- Reached!
We’ll write a short side trek adventure related to Chapel on the Cliffs. This will be a print-friendly B&W adventure with an old-school vibe.
We’re almost done preparing the Chapel on the Cliffs, and that means we finally have something to show! You can find below the sneak peeks we have released so far.
About a week before we launched this project, we reached out to a few bloggers and sent them a demo version of the adventure. This is what they said about it so far (by order of publication):
Print on Demand
Our trusted partners over at DriveThruRPG will handle the print-on-demand books and the shipping. The book will be printed on 70 lbs. paper with a beautiful gloss finish. We’ll work with a local printer for the limited, deluxe, and collector softcover books to have more printing options.
Risks and challenges
The risks for this project are very low. We have many years of experience developing adventures.
Most of the work has already been done. The adventure is completely written, play tested and 80% illustrated. It still needs some editing, a few more illustrations, and some polishing for publication. We’ll continue to work on the interior art during the Kickstarter campaign, and send the document to our editor as soon as we fund. The PDF version of the adventure should be ready shortly after the end of the campaign.
We’re working with DriveThruRPG for the on-demand printing. The approval process for print books can take up to 2 months, which has been taking into account with our estimated release date. If things go faster we will notify you of course.
