A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

SUPER HERO is a low impact, wall mounted bike storage solution, enabling bikes to be displayed and stored, hung only from a pedal.
Developed in direct response to customer feedback and to compliment our exiting range of interior bike storage products. SUPER HERO allows bikes to be integrated with interiors and precious space to be maximised. Booby-tapped hallways, with the consequence of damaged walls and bikes, become a thing of the past.
By way of example, here are some of actual customer enquiries that started us on the journey towards SUPER HERO.
Feedback such as this is very valuable and we are really pleased that our existing customer base is so engaged with what we do at Cycloc. This level of interaction helps us, as a design and development company, to make informed decisions that result in new product designs that are relevant to our customers needs.
We learned that many road cyclist were adopting our existing product "HERO" for displaying and storing their bikes, as they loved its minimal design.
(Hero was originally designed to display difficult to store bikes - such as full suspension mountain bikes and Dutch style step-through frames - and to accommodate all pedal sizes including the largest platform pedals).
As noted above this led to the Speedplay (Speedplay pedals, a favourite of road cyclists, are a very minimal pedal and are small in size) question being asked repeatedly "... would the Hero work with Speedplay Zero pedal..." well it was not ideal so we decided to do something about it and develop a product specifically for all popular clipless pedals.
The aim here was to create a discreet design for storing and displaying bikes in high value interior spaces such as apartments, offices or retail environments. It had to look good whether a bike was being displayed or not, have a high utility value, look natural and not look like an engineered solution to a problem. Adding value to a space without impacting upon it.
SUPER HERO consist of one main pedal support element, for hanging the bike and two supplementary wheel pads together with a few peripheral items.
This small support unit is the main structural component for hanging your bike. It is fixed back to a wall with two large flanged screws located on a vertical centre line and hidden with a cover. The invisible screws add to the magic of what is holding the bike in place as both the units and the fixings are not obvious.

Front wheel pad prevents the bike rotating around the bottom bracket.
Front wheel pad keeps the front wheel in the plane of the frame, preventing handlebars and

insert will ship with every SUPER HERO. It is a clever little element that
transforms the function of the main pedal support suitable for conventional
clipless pedals, such as Look or SPD, into a unit that can be used with Speedplay
We see this component as being a key element in the success of SUPER HERO
due to the broad appeal of Speedplay pedals amongst road cyclists and the many requests we have received from cyclists choosing to ride with Speedplay pedals and to live with Cycloc products.
We are also
very pleased to have the support of Speedplay’s CEO Richard Bryne following a
meeting at Interbike 2016 in Las Vegas where both Cycloc and Speedplay were
Installing the SUPER HERO is simple. Mount the pedal support first using the two screws provided.
(You may wish to swap the wall plugs to some that are more specific to your type of wall structure).
Offer up your bike by locating the pedal in the main moulding. Ensure the bike is sitting horizontally and use the bottom of the wheels as a reference for locating and fixing the wheel pads.

raised via our Kickstarter campaign will be used to commercialise the SUPER
HERO concept. The bulk of the funds will be directed towards the large capital
expense represented by the injection mould tooling for both the pedal support
and the Speedplay insert. Anticipated the costs for this is ~£18000.
are able to use some of our existing tooling from HERO to keep our capital
spend on to a minimum. The tooling for Wheel Support Pads and fixing cover
components we already have.
the other capital expense – litho plates and die cutters. We anticipate the
tooling cost here to be in the region of £2000.
We already work very closely with our UK based manufacturing partner for the production of our existing Cycloc lines; SOLO, ENDO, HERO, LOOP and WRAP. When the Kickstarter campaign is completed successfully we can commission the production of tooling and begin to schedule the manufacturing process very quickly. We anticipate this to happen at the end of the second quarter / beginning of the third quarter of this year. With product shipping from us to you during August 2017.
Risks and challenges
At Cycloc we have already designed and developed a family of five bike storage products, so we know the design development and commercialisation process intimately.
To date we have produced many thousands of Cycloc products and regularly receive unprompted testimonials from happy customers that have adopted our designs into their lives and make them theirs. These personal statements can be quite humbling and provide us with the affirmation that the leaps of faith we made were the right ones to take.
We have kept the risks on delivery of this project to an absolute minimum. We know the concept works from rigorous prototyping and testing, we are familiar with the materials involved and have an established relationship with our production partners. Perhaps the point that crowns all of this is that we have been responding to customer feedback with the creation of SUPER HERO, our existing customers have asked for it!
The SUPER HERO design is now production ready, all details and specifications have been signed of and we are looking forward to full-scale production.
The team at Cycloc appreciate all contributions that help bring our funding goal closer. By way of thanks we have prepared a portfolio showing the prototypes produced during our exploration. These images and accompanying descriptions provide an insight into the development process behind Super Hero.
