Have you ever had a moment with a stranger that changed your life forever?
Ardmore Junction is an independent feature film that explores that very question.
Created by Nick Troy and Brian Gallagher, with MG Eisenhart, this film is unique in that it was intentionally written as only an outline with a starting point, rough story arcs, and a specific ending, so that our actors could discover their words and actions in the moment.
Highly improvised and gently guided by the director, the additional story, characters, and dialogue were crafted by our talented cast: Amy Frear, Davy Raphaely, Natasha Piletich, Dan McGlaughlin, & Brett Gray. This process made for incredible authenticity.....and it was shot in only 11 days with almost no budget.
HOW did we shoot a feature film on almost no budget?
After a decade in the industry, we have some very talented and loyal friends--seasoned professionals in the entertainment arts. And upon hearing that we wanted to make a film but had no funds....
....they offered to work for FREE!! More than that, they lent their cameras, lights, mics, cars, and credit cards so that the film could be made.
A good friend made many of the meals, a local restaurant made the rest. Neighbors hosted cast and crew in their homes, while local businesses gave free products and allowed filming on their premises.
We are very proud of this little gem of a film. We're pleased with the high quality of footage, depth of story, and authenticity of performances. And we feel assured that you will be similarly moved.
But don't take our word for it......HAVE A LOOK. We included some footage in our video (above) and will continue to update with bits of the film, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage.
Filmed entirely in the adjacent towns of Ardmore and Havertown, Pennsylvania, where director Brian Gallagher was born, raised and still resides, the story centers on four strangers that meet at the memorial service of a man they barely knew but who touched each of them deeply, transforming how they see the world, and enriching their lives.
We have 1TB of footage in the can... and overdue credit card bills in the mail. We need your help to raise the money to pay off the debts incurred during production, as well as pay the significant costs associated with post-production (editing, sound design, color correction, score), festival submissions, and distribution.
We think we have something special here and we want the world to see it!
Where Will The Money Go?
- Approximately 1/3 of our budget (about $8000) covers reimbursement for expenses incurred during production (equipment rentals, logistics, transportation, sound, etc.)
- 11% will provide small stipends for the cast & crew
- About 1/4 will cover the technical aspects of post production (editing, post sound, & mastering)
- 8% of the amount raised will go toward fees by Kickstarter & Amazon
- The remaining 1/4 will cover marketing & distribution campaigns (including graphic & web design, festival submissions, and distribution costs).
Risks and challenges
We have a lot of work ahead of us. Post-production is an intricate, time-consuming process, and requires professionals with very specialized skills. We are confident in our ability to finish this film if we raise the money we need, but there will be plenty of hurdles. There's a reason why so many films are never completed.
Even upon completion of the film, finding distribution brings a whole new set of challenges. Today's film market is completely saturated. However, with our highly experienced production team, deep industry connections on both coasts, and several films already in distribution, we are confident that, after achieving our funding goals, we have what it takes to guide this film through a successful festival run and to find distribution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
