WHAT IS THE MOVIE ABOUT
Based on actual events, Kidnapping Inc. is a dark comedy and a satire of Haitian society focusing on kidnapping. The movie is about two deliverymen working for the largest kidnapping corporation in Haiti. Their schedule is to deliver a senator's son worth US $300 000. The only problem, they foolishly misunderstand each other and one of them kills the senator’s son. Trying to fix this mess, they stumble upon the senator’s son look-alike, which sets them on the craziest kidnapping of their lives.
WHY A MOVIE ABOUT KIDNAPPING
Films inspire people. It is a way to connect and share different point of views. During the 2000's, kidnapping has been a scourging problem for Haiti, influencing its social and political state. We want to bring this reality to the screen in order to raise awareness and bring a national reflection to the general public. Since Haitians tend to laugh at their pain, comedy is the best genre to handle such delicate subject. Among other things, we treat the raw complexity of Haiti's everyday life by pushing the viewer toward a better understanding of social issues such as color, gender, language and social class discrimination. As artists, these matters are dear to our heart, questioning our past, to better understand the present in order to explore and build our future.
STAGE OF THE MOVIE
- Most of the preproduction is done
- We've raised 75k - We own 50% of the filming equipments
- Shooting starts on June 19th to August 15th
THE VISUAL CONCEPT
The visual concept of Kidnapping Inc. waltzes between documentary and fiction. It depicts the subject of kidnapping from the point of view of two kidnappers on the road in a confined environment. 50% of the movie is shot in a car creating a proximity effect, plunging into characters' expressiveness, emotions, intimate reactions and energy. The pace of the film is rhythmic, dynamic, where the audience experiment the journey of the kidnappers during 24 hours. Furthermore, we bring the main characters from contrasting social realities in a narrow setting around the central theme. To get a sense of what we want you to SEE, the movie is a combination of City of Gods and, Pulp Fiction. Tinted with dark humor, Kidnapping Inc. it's a mixture of raw beauty that embraces the vivid colors of Haiti. We will hear its distinctive sound and its swarming environment bathing in its harsh day-to-day reality. It will be shot mostly with natural light with a yellow dominance transcending the tropical warmth side of Haiti.
WHAT WE NEED
We need 150K just to shoot the movie. For movies, by far it's NOT a lot. Luckily, we have an outstanding crew that believes in the project keeping the budget low for NOW. If we exceed our goal, every dollar will definitely help strengthen the whole movie production and to make a GREAT feature film. Furthermore, this will help pay for PROMOTION, MARKETING and ADVERTISING. Also, every exceeding dollar will pay for:
- Equipment rentals, cast, crew, sets,
- Postproduction, Sound editing, Music scoring.
- Tour the screening via festivals around the world.
- Partner with an international distributor for release & distribution.
- Subtitle the movie in many languages.
- Make the movie available on the online platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, etc.
- Offer VOD sales.
- Offer DVD/BluRay sales.
WHY WE NEED YOU
Even though 150K is a lot of money, when it comes to film, this amount is pocket change compared to film budgets in the industry. We've already raised 75K and we need another 150K to make this movie. Our industry is nearly inexistent and this movie will be a new breath of fresh air for the industry. Every dollar you contribute to this project will COUNT.
WHAT YOU GET

Risks and challenges
RISKS & CHALLENGES
Kidnapping Inc. faces the usual risks of film today. Even though, this is an ambitious project given the subject and the mood of the movie, thankfully, it's less costly to make a feature film today. The good news is that we own 50% of the equipment and our cast and crew believe in us. This is the only reason why the budget is not higher.
One of our challenges is the availability of the cast. Most of them are actors and comedians and they have obligations locally and internationally.
Another challenge is the distribution of the movie. We hope to find a decent and fair distributor. If we exceed this goal, the rest of the money raised will go straight to advertising, marketing and distribution.
Lastly, our greatest challenge is that the Haitian film industry today is nearly inexistent and we, Muska Films, are building it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
