Hi. I’m Milwaukee Theatre critic Russ Bickerstaff.

I’d like to thank everyone for supporting my new blog TheSmallStage.Weebly.Com.

It’s great to have had such a strong public response for reader-supported small stage previews, reviews and interviews in Milwaukee. The August fundraising campaign was great. September was cool too. Looking forward to so much more as 2017 rolls into 2018. To this end, I’ve started a November fundraising campaign to continue to fund the site.

Here's some of what I'd like to Cover in the next couple of months:

--TWAS THE MONTH BEFORE CHRISTMAS--A carpenter and his pregnant wife a travel to Bethlehem a little over 2000 years ago in Doug Jarecki's comic prequel to the New Testament. Missed this one last year...it won't happen again...

--THE SANTA DIARIES with Mojo Dojo at Urban Harvest: I've been meaning to make it this one since its original run was announced last year. Improv comedy with Santa telling tales at the bar.

--CONSTELLATIONS with All-In Productions. Libby Amato and David Sapiro star in the regional premiere of a romantic drama about chance, circumstance and two people.

--SHIMMY AND SHAKESPEARE A burlesque variety show centered around...Shakespeare. Sounds interesting. There are so many questions...but this one sounds fun as it's a collaboration between Drunken Shakespeare group Boozy Bard and burlesque group Dainty Rogues...

And so much more . . . looking forward to covering small stage theatre in Milwaukee in the new year . . .

Risks and challenges

Again--it's really important to me to maintain anonymity of my donors so I ask that all who donate use the anonymous option. If I know where the money is coming from, it gets a bit difficult to maintain objectivity.

Other than that, the site has been running quite smoothly over the course of its first 4 months in existence. So happy to continue covering theatre as an indie journalist.
