The Palmer House - Twin Peaks Museum and Tourist Destination
Preserve the Palmer House shooting location by transforming location into a Twin Peaks museum with event space and fully functional BnB
Greetings from Seattle.
As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the most magical television programs of all time, Twin Peaks, we are presented with a unique opportunity.
The Palmer house has been put up for sale. This home was used as the shooting location for the Palmer house in both the Twin Peaks pilot and for the film "Fire Walk With Me". Serving as home to Leland, Sarah, and Laura, it was witness to some of the most climactic moments in the series and stands as an iconic landmark for the show.
We discovered it's market status when we happened upon this article on the foremost website for all things Twin Peaks,
When I read the quote, "I always hope a fan ends up buying it and turns at least one room into a museum or a shrine"
I figured someone had to do it. Why not us? Adopting the model used by the Christmas Story house, we began to run with the idea that we could purchase "The Palmer House" and convert it into not only a shrine for the show, but also a Twin Peaks-themed event space, as well as a bed and breakfast.
With 4+ bedrooms, the residence can sleep up to 8 people an evening, with a full kitchen, and a renovated Red Room movie theater in the basement. The home will also come stocked with a full library of DVDs and music from the series, so you can fully immerse yourself in the Twin Peaks vibe.
This is where you come in. In order to purchase the home outright and keep it alive and functioning, we will need help from every Twin Peaks fan out there. And we will need to act quickly. As we speak, there has already been an offer placed on the home, so if we are not able to throw our hat in the ring shortly, the house may disappear. Some of our rewards are very limited, so act quickly before they are snatched up. The funding goal will enable us to purchase the house outright, with enough to cover Kickstarter and Amazon Payments fees.
We have a wide variety of rewards to choose from, at varied pricing levels and you have the ability to donate at multiple levels so you can take the most advantage of the space.
In addition to the traditional t-shirts and posters, we will be offering tours of the home (complete w/coffee and pie), and overnight rentals for you and up to 7 of your friends. Fight over who gets to sleep in Laura's room (you might want to lock the windows though...)
So please, help us ensure that a piece of history will forever be a tribute to the wonderful world of Twin Peaks. Thank you for your time. I'll see you in the trees.
Risks and challenges
If the home is sold while the campaign is still live, we will cancel fundraising and your pledge will not be deducted from your account.
We are pursuing having the home registered as historical by the state of Washington, and are in talks with the city as we speak. If we are unable to achieve this status and operate as a non-profit, we will cancel funding before closing and no funds will be deducted from donors' accounts.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
