About this project
Watch Episode One above!
To make a Sci-Fi thriller that is a non-conformist, political manifesto, while guesstimating tomorrow's technology! How much more fun could a science enthusiast and dramatic filmmaker have? A $5 pledge from every single person I know could change the landscape of this project into a dream come true. Or, if you can't pledge, then you can make a huge difference just by viewing/sharing (see sites below) or by sharing this Kickstarter link on Facebook!
Strand is a Dystopian cautionary tale. The background is 2032, twenty years in the future and the singularity has come in the form of Oracles. Imagine cell-phones that appear as glowing orbs of light and follow their owners around like dogs. These devices can connect you with every other Oracle owner, elevating your consciousness to a hive-mind. Then imagine a government who gets sick of sharing power and outlaws these devices. Mankind, now biologically enmeshed with and dependent upon their Oracles, crumble into confusion and lethargy, as if unplugged. Inventor of this device, James Roy, is on the run with daughter, Rae, whose mutated powers he can't fix, as he must rediscover in himself out-of-date resourcefulness in order to survive.
Imagine a government who gets sick of sharing power? What a surprise last month when the SOPA/PIPA bills were on the table at Congress and Internet freedom was in jeopardy! This future world in Strand asks: What if our freedom of connecting were taken away?
Web Series Episodes:
You can view our first three episodes of Strand on YouTube, SciFinal- host to the most popular Sci-Fi web series to date (we were rated five stars!), Digital Chick TV, a platform of original content by and about women content makers (we got a 'Video Pick!'), and Vimeo, which we applied for their big 30G Award, so for God's sakes, view and 'like' it!.
