iLidar: LiDAR for Makers | Solid-State 3D Robotics Mapping
Robots aren’t the future. Robots are NOW and you can make them. Robot vacuums, companion robots & UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles)/ autonomous drones have grown in popularity and will soon become an integral part of your life. Be a part of building the future by joining the Maker Community!
For autonomous robots, a core technology is LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging Sensor). Ever wonder how a robot can see? How does a robot vacuum avoid walls? How does a self-driving car sense traffic or pedestrians? The answer is LiDAR, a scanning technology that maps objects or space by illuminating the target with a pulsed laser light.
iLidar is the first solid-state LiDAR sensor made for ALL MAKERS from beginner to robotics developers. Overcoming the limitations of traditional LiDAR, iLidar offers cutting-edge LiDAR performance at an unbeatable price, all in one compact sensor module.
As Seen On
Utilizing a point laser, 1D LiDAR sensors are only capable of measuring distance to one point. While cheap and compact, their use functionality is limited.
2D LiDAR allows for basic scanning of space. To scan in 2D, most LiDAR sensors require rotation to sense distance on a line across space.
Utilizing line laser technology, iLidar is capable of 2D mapping without requiring rotation. To scan a space in true 3D, iLidar simply needs to scan on the vertical axis.
In the video below, you can view iLidar’s performance. Through innovation in short-range LiDAR performance, iLidar provides unparalleled performance cost.

Don't bothered by initial sensor configuration work on your embedded platforms. Plug iLidar into your PC and configure it as you want. Configuration data can be saved into iLidar's non-volatile memory section, and will be loaded at each power-up afterward. Real-time data visualization is also possible with iLidar Configurator. See what iLidar sees.
Open Software Development Kit : C/C++
Have complete access to iLidar’s open source SDK (software development kit). Plug & play by configuring iLidar with a variety of embedded micro controllers including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or Jetson.
The Hybo team was formed as the robotics club at Pohang University of Science & Technology(POSTECH). As makers ourselves, one of the biggest frustrations was the inaccessibility of a quality, affordable LiDAR sensor. Finally, we decided why not make one ourselves?
iLidar was created for makers by makers. Affordable, versatile and compact, iLidar makes LiDAR technology accessible to everyone. We continue to be heavily involved in the maker community including participating in the Maker Fair and cannot wait to hear about how you integrate iLidar into your creations!
Why are we on Kickstarter?
All funds raised on Kickstarter will go towards:
1. Mass production costs for iLidar
2. Development of SDK & iLidar Visualizer software
3. Maker tutorials on how to integrate into a variety of robotics projects
Risks and challenges
iLidar is a brand new technology set to make Lidar scanning technology to everyone. As makers ourselves, we wanted to create iLidar for Makers which is why we are offering iLidar at such a reasonable price. While every mass production process comes with unexpected hurdles, we feel confident that we can offer this powerful LiDAR technology at an incredible performance/cost ratio. Heavily involved in the maker community, we promise to honor the spirit of our community proud by being transparent and open about our process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
