About this project
With GVN volunteers have the opportunity to work in a community HIV and AIDS organizations to assist with home-care visits to HIV positive people, and educate and counsel community and school groups and individuals.
Founded in 2000, GVN has placed over 14,000 volunteers their twenty-one partner organizations throughout South America, Africa, and Asia.
Where I Come In:
This fall I would be traveling for four weeks with GVN to Kenya and assisting at HIV / AIDS clinics. During this time I will be photographing my experiences at the clinics and home hospices for a gallery showing and a photo book.
Photos will document the AIDS epidemic that is terrorizing Kenya and highlighting the efforts of the volunteers in these clinics. At the core though, there will be hope in these photos; hence the title of the project: Hope In Kenya.
Where You Come In:
I definitely need your help with this! With airline and volunteer fees, this experience becomes a big undertaking.
If you decide to support me (thank you!!), I will be sending some goodies your way. For ever donation over $10, I will be sending out a postcard with one of my original photos from Kenya. For the bigger backers, you will get a copy of the photo book and there's lots of fun stuff in between.
