Grassroots R.P.G in development by Valor Infinity Studios.
Valor Infinity Studios is a small grassroots studio located in Montana. We work in desktop publishing, photography, and R.P.G development. The studio was founded in 2004 and was re-chartered into an L.L.C in 2011. No one is paid, all of owners work other jobs, but contribute to V.I.S in their free-time.
Juggernaut the Role Playing Game is a science fiction/fantasy R.P.G. that we have been working on for several years. It is based around the storytelling and not dice rolls. We have brought a realistic application of formulas to the game to make the gamer’s experience more in-depth than traditional gaming systems. We are working to have the R.P.G available in hard-copy, application, and computer format.
We are raising funds to finish the base book and corresponding digital application for Juggernaut: The Role-Playing Game (TM). We have completed 90% of the project, but are in need of financial assistance to finish the last section of graphic and setup work for general release. As I am sure you know, projects like this require a lot of work to get off of the ground. There are a very limited number of individuals (five) working on this which requires us to use contract support. The money we are requesting is to finish out the contract support we need done before we can release the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
This game was created by gamers for gamers. I will not talk about what our perceived shortcomings are of other games, all have their strengths and weaknesses. This R.P.G. is centered around the storytelling and imagination. It places an emphasis on the using of your mind instead of weapons to get out of dangerous situations and combines the worlds of science fiction and fantasy in a way where it all meshes together. Computer games are great and I love playing different titles, but I have to be honest in that R.P.G.s are great in that there are no limitations to what you can do, you are free to use your imagination, and it is social event where people still get together and sit down with one another to game. It is about the friendship and freelance imagination.
As stated above we are a very small studio. Personally I have sunk tens of thousands of dollars into the creation of this game, mostly contracting art out to help free lance artists and to showcase their work in our game. It isn't a corporate game where it is just thrown together to make to money, we truly do this for the love of the gaming. Everyone that is helping with the game all have full-time jobs, two of us are also full-time students. The contribution you make will help us contract finishing work to independent contractors to help us finally complete the base book. I would give more of the storyline and art examples, but we have run into problems with individuals and companies that cannot come up with their own concepts "borrowing" ours. So we are trying to keep as much as possible together for the surprise of the first book release. I can tell you that the game takes place throughout several universes, it combines character play with space and dimensional travel. It is a place where you can run into a wizard, gun fighter, dragon, computer hacker, alien, and marine all in the same location and storyline where it makes sense and one character is not ridiculously over matched. It is not about playing a super character or hero, but about playing a regular person who has the potential to do great things.
The game is based on 1d100 tier system. It is formatted so that when damage occurs it follows a correct ratio as opposed to a static system where everything falls within the same damage category. It takes into account battle dynamics where a knife can't obviously hurt a tank, but a magic spell or special ability can. It also takes into account types of damage instead of a straight point damage system. A knife damages differently than a hammer or a projectile. Also the character stats for advanced objects are tier systems where attributes contribute neatly into composite statistics. For more advanced gamers you can make detailed encounters based off of multiple checks or even run into minor encounters where checks are not even needed depending on the situation. We are also developing an application that will formulate everything for you and make it extremely easy to play the game without dice, if you want to game that way. It is an extremely flexible gaming system adapting to the needs/wants of the players.
The R.P.G. application (being developed for computer, tablet, and smart phone) will allow you to run an entire game where all players are at remote locations, if you wish. We prefer doing it in person, but the application will allow players from out of town to be able to attend without having to travel. The application will generate character sheets as well as allow the person running the game to access all character data for better and more efficient gaming.
Risks and challenges
We are a very small grassroots studio. We are working to complete this project because it has been our dream to publish our own R.P.G for several years. This has actually been 13 years in the making. We have contributed thousands of dollars to this game over the last 13 years. It adds up over time. It is extremely hard to compete with large corporate financially backed R.P.G.s, but we feel that Juggernaut offers a very unique gaming storyline and a dynamic gaming system that gamers are going to love. We just need to come up with the funds for a final push to get the game released.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
