Thinking About You is a short film created at Northwestern University as part of the senior directing program. Students that apply and are selected are then given a small grant to make their movie.
And we really wanted to make this movie.
The story of Thinking About You takes place in a world where telepathy is just common enough to be taboo. We built this world over the course of an entire year; writing in the summer and then filming straight through until Spring 2012. We reached out to the film, theatre, engineering, and improv communities of Northwestern and Chicago to create a dynamic group of creative minds that each brought something unique to the project.
Thinking About You revolves around the idea of mind reading, of melding subjectivities until you're simultaneously thinking and feeling the same thing as someone else. We approached the process of making the film in much the same way. Instead of being product oriented, we wanted every actor and crew member to feel like they were making art instead of simply doing manual labor for another student film set. The amount of effort and creative energy expounded on this project has been incredibly humbling.
We painted giant glass title cards, molded multiple anti-telepathy helmets out of foam and bondo, and hand-crafted 4 x 4 glass filters to film through, smearing them with honey, food coloring, oil, and glue until we created a series of dizzying visual effects. We filmed through Fall, Winter, and Spring and are extremely pleased with the way the film turned out. Nonetheless, we're still fine-tuning - making sure all the elements work together perfectly.
And there's nothing we want more than for people to watch it.
Thinking About You needs $2,000 to cover production expenses, the purchase and authorship of DVD's, and submission to as many film festivals as possible. We're incredibly proud of the film we've made, and now all we want to do is share it with as many people as we can. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go directly towards bringing Thinking About You to a theater near you sometime soon!
Thank you so much for your support, we're thinking about you!

HOW DOES KICKSTARTER WORK?
If you make a donation to the film, you'll receive a reward from the list to the right. Choose the amount you’d like to donate, and the gift you’d like to receive. Then, once funding is completed, we'll be in touch for your address and your rewards will be delivered by mail.
But if we don’t meet our goal, we won’t receive any of the donations!
Even if we’re just a few dollars short of our goal amount, we won’t get the funding. But if we go over our target amount, we can keep the whole thing. Every penny we raise will directly fund the finishing costs of the film.
