We need to raise $2500 to cover the costs of our theatre and rehearsal space rental. So, why not offer specially discounted tickets (and other great benefits) to those patrons willing to back us on Kickstarter?
We like showing appreciation to those who help us! Kickstarter will let us do that by giving great rewards to any fans that want to help us get this show off the ground. That's why we're totally tickled with our Feed An Actor ($50) level, and the chance to have fun with a little Holiday Hi-jinks ($500) on the person of your choosing (thanks to Dave Mortensen for this awesome idea!). Plus, we're giving away a grundle of tickets with each of these rewards because this show is going to be wickedly awesome! At the very least, we hope to see you at the show.
Silver Summit Theatre is a small performing arts company based in the Sandy, Utah area. Our focus is on producing plays and musicals (including original works by local playwrights) that audiences in this area and those surrounding it, aren’t generally exposed to. In plain English, that means, we aim to give you all something more than another regurgitation of the same old shows you’ve seen before. If we produce a show that’s been done around here before, you can be sure there will be something fresh and inventive in our presentation of the material.
We love theatre and the performing arts. We feel it can enrich the lives of those who let it. Our goal is to provide the community with theatrical performances and educational opportunities that provoke, inspire, and entertain. This is why we have chosen SCREWTAPE, a play by John Forsyth and based on the novel “The Screwtape Letters” by C. S. Lewis, as our first production. It’s smart, it’s funny, it’s edgy, and it’s thought-provoking.

That means we will be able to make the show all that much better, pay the actors, and invest in future shows such as ASSASSINS, which is planned for Fall 2013. For example, the performance rights and production materials for Screwtape cost a pretty chunk of change, almost $1000. Add to that costumes, set construction and dressing, props, and that aforementioned theatre rental, and you can see that even before you’ve sold a single ticket, the bill has gotten to be pretty hefty. Assassins will cost considerably more.
Any additional funding we raise goes to help cover those other costs, and potentially help to keep our actors from starving. That way they keep breathing and we can use them again next time!
