$3500 goal: "A Beautiful Noise"
The Columbus State University Trombone Ensemble is thrilled to partner with Kickstarter to bring you a new CD featuring some of the finest trombone soloists in the world. This 6-semester recording project featuring guest soloists with the CSU Trombone Ensemble concluded with Joseph Alessi's contribution to the project in January of 2013. With the recording phase now complete, we are in the final stages of mixing and mastering, and we are thrilled to announce that the CD will be released on Summit Records. But we need your help...
Soloists on the project include: Joseph Alessi, George Curran, James Markey, Denson Paul Pollard, Bill Thomas, Charlie Vernon and Ko-Ichiro Yamamoto. The eight pieces recorded on this CD feature an incredible variety of compositions, including two pieces that were commissioned for this project, and four world-premier recordings. The CD is nearly 74 minutes of some of the finest virtuosic solo playing from some of the world's leading trombone soloists, accompanied by the CSU students. It is truly "A Beautiful Noise"!!!
A project of this magnitude is of course expensive, but it is incredibly rewarding for the students that were given the opportunity to work with many of their musical heroes in lessons, masterclasses, rehearsals, performances, and of course recording sessions here in Legacy Hall at Columbus State University. We are partnering with Kickstarter to help raise the funds for the first printing of the CD through Summit Records. Your support of these fine student musicians and the wonderful project that has finally come to fruition is deeply appreciated! Please help us to get over this last hurdle and bring the CD to the public!
If we reach $5500 in pledges, we will be able to pay for the commission of a new composition for trombone octet by Anthony DiLorenzo, which the CSU Trombone Octet will premier at the International Trombone Festival in June of 2013. The piece is not yet in its final form, but the students have read the first draft of it and are VERY excited to work on it this semester and to perform it this summer! The piece will be sold by Art of Sound Music, and is a $40 value. When the $3500 goal is reached, please don't let that stop you from taking advantage of this opportunity to support the project.
Risks and challenges
We haven't identified any risks at this late stage in the project, but our biggest challenge is motivating YOU to support this project so that we can cross the finish line! If we fall short of the $3500 goal in this campaign, we will get $0.00, and if we go over $3500 the proceeds will go to the DiLorenzo commission up to $5500. If we go over that, the rest of the money will go into the Schwob School of Music general fund which is used for scholarships, guest artists and other important enhancements to the students' musical education at CSU. This Kickstarter project is only active for 21 days, so please don't wait to show your support of this project at any level you can.
