About this project

Australia to Japan: The Story of a Fat Man

Follow how a overweight Australian man is treated in a country that has a law about being fat . Over a time frame of 3 months Watch him travel eat healthy and lose weight while exploring some parts of japan that most tourists don't normally see. Enjoy Interviews with sumo's and look at how Technology and Culture blend into a colorful masterpiece for the eyes. Take a glimpse at how the Japanese treat fat people and find out why they all seem to be thinner then their Australian counterparts.

We are raising funds to allow myself and a camera man to travel from Rockhampton Queensland Australia to Tokyo Japan to film this documentary .

So far I have the shot locations planned out in japan. The filming in my town of Rockhampton is complete and now I'm talking to sumo stables in Tokyo and Kyoto and Sapporo to line up interviews.

I'm also seeking out overweight people in japan for comments and interviews though social media.

We plan to bring many small and large Japanese towns to the screen. Our trip will start with us in Rockhampton then move onto the Gold Coast from the Gold Coast we will move Sapporo Japan. After Sapporo we will travel to Tokyo then Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and rounding our trip off at Rockhampton's sister city Ibusuki

Risks and challenges

Some places in Japan are seasonal and only open a few weeks of the year and in some rare occasion they don't open until halfway though the season. If this occurs we will have backup venues plan we can visit instead.

Language can be a problem outside of major cities if my Japanese isn't good enough
there will be a translator on speed dial

All Visa's are already completed.

If Flights are cancelled or delayed other flights will be booked as Full Travel insurance up to the $20000 has been taken out for this documentary.

Recording or taking pictures of some buildings is against the law in some countries we will have a local support person who is up to date will all laws and regulations
