The vision of ARTIFACT: RED-X is to create a hybrid real time empire-style builder with turn based squad tactical combat . The role of the player is that of the invading enemy, where they must conquer an alien planet that they have selected themselves. The real time main gaming view of ARTIFACT: RED-X will use an adaption of the traditional tabletop-style board game mechanics.Each tile or hexagon will have resources and terrain attributes which will help or hinder the player's progression.The turn-based squad tactical view will also be divided into tiles and provide strategic advantages and disadvantages.

Play as the leader of one of the 10 greatest colony factions as you wage planetary conquest from space, land, sea and air. Your faction's core religious and social beliefs will influence how you conduct diplomacy, espionage, research, manage your bases and people in your quest for glory, honor and wealth.
Hand-pick the alien planet to invade, establish a base of operations, operate reconnaissance mission over alien territories, abduct aliens for research, launch terror campaigns on alien cities to destabilize local governments then infiltrate them to turn on their own people.
Locate and secure rare and valuable resources, build mining outposts to extract, process and transport the precious cargo back to base. Watch out for local anti-human agencies who will attempt to take down your supply ships and raid your resource hubs.
Play at your own pace. Jump straight into playing and receive guidance and advice on how to best play the game. They also provide insight for decisions first-time players make. Play in real time or change the speed of the game to suit your gaming style.
Individually recruit and customize each soldier, weapon, item and armor pieces to create a truly personalized gaming experience.Hand pick each solider for your squads based on their individual skills and abilities in an RPG-style attribute system. Customize each soldiers' load out, training and select who gets promoted. Upgrade weapons, items and armor based on each soldier's performance traits to enhance their effectiveness.
Research and manufacture new technologies. Power them with the rare element "Red-X" and become an unstoppable force. Watch out as element "Red-X" releases exotic radiation which causes Freeform evolution to occur. Squad units evolve & physically mutate, unlocking new abilities, technologies and more!
Turn based Ground squad combat with up to 36 ground units on battlefield. Using an isometric graphics style that makes it easy to identify and play.
Challenge your friends to single turn-based tactical games or stay in it for the long haul and compete for dominance of the planet as either human or alien species.
You first gets the opportunity to select a planet to invade. This screen will display information about the planet that can influence game progress.
Atmospheric conditions may make it harder to fly long distance missions or static discharges may interfere with communications and cloaking abilities. Special equipment may need to be researched - allowing for additional bonuses. The Human governments may provide financial incentives for invading planets of interest.
This is the main operational screen of ARTIFACT: RED-X.
You will need to send out scouts to begin interacting with local governments as well as finding out where all the best resources are. Also your scouts may come under attack by the local anti-alien forces. Downed craft must be defended and recovered so that the locals do not gain your technology or find out your existence/mission. You can also chose to operate abductions, terrorize other government factions or intercept local UFO craft to gain different technologies and insights to defeating the locals.

Resources, including Element Red-X would need to be extracted and then processed. Resource hubs will need to be built on top of a resource square to extract it from the planet. The extracted resources would be shipped via a supply craft back to base. You must assign soldiers and workers to man a supply craft. Once the supply craft is airborne, it can be intercepted by the local race's own anti-alien organization. If the supply craft is shot down, the player will need to defend the craft from the attackers to safeguard the supplies.
You don't do this for free! Resources are converted into cash. Cash is used to buy, hire and manufacture everything that is needed. This is supplemented with alien technologies and resources extracted from the planet.
As the player progresses through the game, they will need to expand on the basic facilities, found new bases and resource hubs. Since the base management is done in real time new base facilities, research, manufacturing and training occur with time restrictions. I.e. a research project might take 20 minutes to complete. Building facilities can take an hour, etc.
To advance in ARTIFACT: RED-X and achieve the ultimate goal of conquest, the player must find new ways to overcome the opponent. Research and development of new weapons, facilities and other advancements will not only aide on the battlefield but also in improving resource refinement, building faster and higher capacity spacecraft to say the least.
As research projects are completed, many of them will provide the ability to create new weaponry, armor, new fighter craft etc. These items need to be manufactured on base or in the orbiting space docks before they can be used by the player. Manufacturing requires facilities and materials to manufacture each required item. There can also be a financial cost. Engineers and workers can be hired.Engineers translate the research into usable plans in which the workers build the items.
Alien craft (the local indigenous life) are detected by the radar positions built by the player and by the satellites they launch into space. Once the craft is detected, the player will be notified and chose to intercept, follow or ignore the craft. When the player's fighter craft reach the alien craft, they can attack it to make it crash. Once the alien craft has been taken down, the player can chose to recover the craft.
Multiplayer Stretch Goal Planned- In multiplayer games, the detected 'alien craft' is actually any craft the other player(s) have operating in the detection area. The other players may have their own scouts or supply craft operating missions or just transporting goods and personnel. These crafts can be intercepted by the player. When the craft crash lands then both players enter the squad combat screen. The winner receives rewards to help advance their faction.
When engaging with the enemy at the sight of a raid, craft recovery or any kind of ground based combat, you will enter into the turn based squad tactical game mode or 'turn based mode'. This mode is laid out in an isometric style strategy game similar to analogue tabletop games.
Types of missions include but not limited to:
Calling on Backup - Finding you didn't bring enough soldiers or you just can't hold the position anymore but it imperative that you accomplish the mission? Call for back up allows the player to call in additional units.

If the goal of 35K is reached - we will make a tabletop strategy game based off the Artifact Red-X story. Also new rewards & reward upgrades will be released! Game pieces will be hand sculpted and cast in resin. Pieces will be interchangeable to simulate the freeform evolution on the human pieces. Set will contain up to 20 miniatures, including the serpent queen & her 'Add', 4 different aliens (2 of each) and 10 humans. The pack will include the character creation & management sheet, the die set (TBD), the rule book and the game board.
We are very proud to announce that successful Kickstarter Itar's Workshop will be our partner to create the miniatures for the Artifact Red-X miniature tabletop board game! We are gamers and we want to make games that other gamers want to play. By bringing this title to the Kickstarter community, we hope to get the type of feedback we need to make the right kind of game. There are always risks and challenges when developing a product for the market.
Creating the assets, writing the story, game design, audio and music, programming of the engine and features all need to be done simultaneously. All of this takes time and people. Schedules can be planned but ultimately there is the possibility of delays - in any production.
We have kept our rewards to primarily in-game as the costs and the risks of producing a ton of physical swag is too great. Dealing with manufacturers and getting designs make correctly on physical goods is an expensive and timely exercise. We feel that enhancing your gaming experience is more important.
Your in-game contributor rewards will be available in all new games no matter the difficulty.
There will be an option in the new game's settings to turn off the additional bonuses if you so choose.
