Take the Kingdom is a medieval-themed card game for 2-4 players. The object of the game is to be the last kingdom standing, or the strongest one left after all the cards have been played.
Take The Kingdom usually takes half an hour to play. It’s easy to learn and suitable for all ages – we recommend ages 8 and up although we’ve had fun playing it with children as young as 5.
This game has friendly shipping to the EU, US, Canada and Australia - you won't pay VAT or customs charges if you are in any of these areas.
Your kingdom starts off as a Fort and some surrounding Land. You can fortify these by adding defences like Walls, Battlements, Archers, Knights and a Moat - all with cards.
You and your opponents then attack each other’s kingdoms using weapons including Siege Towers, Pikemen, Trebuchets and Battering Rams.
But attacking and defending will only get you so far. You can change your Fate and that of your opponents by playing action cards. Earthquake, Conquest, Disrepair and Mutiny will damage or steal your opponents’ assets, while Fortune, Spy and Deny (and more) will help to keep you one step ahead.
Watch out for Penalty cards – if you pick up Disease, Plague or Famine this affects you, immediately, and will restrict what you can do on that turn.
At the end of the game, if more than one Kingdom is still left standing, the one with the most points wins. Your points come from your defences – 3 for a Fort, 1 for Land, 2 for Walls and so on.

Review from BoardGameGeek Gold Reviewer Calvin Daniels: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1954070/engaging-card-game-medieval-conquest
The game as described is complete and will use high-quality materials. The following goals (and any subsequent goals that become available later in the campaign) are therefore covering luxury/premium upgrades to components and materials for all, and a few extra cards that add flavour. But you will not miss out if the campaign only just makes its funding targets – we are not doing add-ons, so everyone will get everything!
- £4750 – The game gets funded. Prepare for Conquest!
- £5700 - 4 x Damage cards (to show where attacks are in progress)
- £6650 – Larger format, higher-quality rules booklet
- £7600 – All cardstock upgraded to Linen finish
- Further goals to be revealed as the campaign progresses!
We are working with two respected manufacturers to produce this game - with a final decision to be made depending on the number of backers. BoardGamesMaker.com are a long-established and experienced manufacturer in China. For a larger production run, manufacture will be handled by Panda Games, one of the biggest and most reputable names in the industry. We have received final prototypes of our cards and boxes, photos of which you can see on these pages.
We are also working with very well-established companies to make sure our fulfilment is as fast and as reliable as possible. Quartermaster Logistics (QML) will fulfil to the US, Canada and Australia, working in partnership with Snakes & Lattes and Aetherworks respectively. Spiral Galaxy Games will handle fulfilment to EU and the rest of the world.
This means that this campaign is EU-friendly, USA-friendly, Canada-friendly and Australia-friendly. You will not pay any VAT or customs charges in any of these areas, as we will take care of that for you. Multiple orders will benefit from subsidised shipping, so ordering 2-4 copies will cost you the same in shipping as 1 copy.
If you have any unusual fulfilment requirements or questions, please just get in touch via the comments section.
Risks and challenges
We are a new company and this is our first Kickstarter campaign. We think we have done everything we can to reduce any risk to delivering this game. Artwork for the game is complete, and we are only expecting minor graphic design tweaks, subject to feedback from backers during the campaign. The game itself has gone through hundreds of hours of playtesting, and the reviews on these pages are genuine and unpaid/unsponsored. We have left in all comments, both positive and negative, to help you to make up your mind as to whether this is the game for you. If you want to ask about any points the reviewers have made, please get in touch via the Comments section of the KS campaign page.
Our manufacturers have confirmed that they can handle the manufacture and freight shipping to the numbers and criteria we have specified. As noted above, we are working with two very experienced fulfilment companies who have confirmed that they can deal with worldwide fulfilment in the timescales indicated.
For all that, we understand that sometimes things don't proceed according to plan, and whatever happens, we'll make sure you, the backers, are kept up to date with progress, whether that's good or bad news. We hope, though, to be able to deliver ahead of the stated delivery dates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
