What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

About

Shuttle, the Smart Door Wedge Gadet and Ai SonicEar

We design and manufacture fire and security poducts for commercial and residential use. We launched Shuttle, the smart door wedge gadget. Using its SonicEar technology, Shuttle listens and learns the sound of the fire alarm. Once learnt, Shuttle will release allowing the fire door to close. 

We are raising money to further develop our SonicEar technology. The module connects to electrical products and performs an action upon hearing a learned sound such as an alarm, music or even a voice. SonicEar acts as a robotic ear. The module can be connected to anything electrical that needs to perform an action on hearing a sound. For example, if SonicEar is trained to learn a song, it will allow a light to turn on when it hears it, or the kettle to boil or automatic blinds to move up or down.

Risks and challenges

We have an experinced team of mechanical and software engineers working on the project. We have already designed and launched our Shuttle product. The risk involved are down to the development of the software and how sharp we can make it. our main goal will be for SonicEar to understand spoken voices. At the moment the module can learn sounds that have continuity such as fire and security alarms, music etc.
