I just completed my second album entitled, The Pickin's Are Slim. The album consists of 11 original songs and it features many talented up and coming Memphis musicians including: Khari Wynn ( Public Enemy, Back Sliders, Energy Disciples); Michaela Catlin; Hope Clayborn ( Soul Scrimmage); Tiffany Harmon (Other Stories); Nashon Benford ( The Dawls, Lucero); Daniel Anderson ( Whose Army); Shelby Baldock ( Soul Scrimmage); and Melvin Turner and Tim Stanek.
What’s On The Album?
My music is a mixture of folk and soul.
The mixes are based on retro 60's music - when recording consoles didn't have panning pots. When mixing in stereo, there’s an option of putting each instrument or vocal in left, right or center position. As a result, it creates a very classic sound that has been used by The Beatles, Percy Mayfield, Simon & Garfunkel, and more recent artists like Lenny Kravitz, Ray LaMontagne, and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings.
How Is Your Money Being Used?
I'm raising funds on Kickstarter to support the expensive costs of packaging and distributing 300 units of CDs. For my new album, I'm asking for the support of YOU – my friends, families, and fans – to help make it happen!
The album will be distributed to stores and available for purchase on the internet and digital avenues such as: iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, and Spotify.
Publicity: Facebook, Google ads, posters, and radio airtime, etc. My team of talented friends, Dustin Taylor, Ethan Touch, Q and Tiffany Collins, are well experienced in web design, marketing, sales and PR, so they will be a huge help in bringing lots of publicity to the CD.
Why Should You Support?
My goal is to create quality music.
By supporting this album, you are supporting the future of Memphis music, its producers, its performers, and everyone who wants Memphis music to live on with the same verve as it began back in the 50's and 60's when musicians like Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave and B.B. King all got their start in Memphis.
Another great way to show your support is by checking out my website, facebook page and my youtube channel.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!
Risks and challenges
My passion is creating music and performing live; however, this business is very expensive. I typically use money I receive from performances, and my own personal savings to fund much of this project, but a high quality, professional album is more expensive than I can afford, so this is the purpose of Kickstarter.
Your involvement is this: you sponsor the album "The Pickin's Are Slim" here on Kickstarter. By becoming a sponsor/donor, you'll pre-order the album, be entitled to unique opportunities and intimate proximity to the music making.
You are the life-blood in the process.
