So, earlier this year, I put out a Kickstarter to produce metal alt-art cards for X-Wing, and it went well. In fact, I would go so far as to say it went far better than I could have expected. As a result, I've had more than a few people contacting me asking when I'll be putting out more cards, so this is me trying to raise the money to do exactly that.
As before, the plan is to put out 1 card for each of the 7 factions, depicting one of the iconic ships from that faction. Unlike last time though, I am soliciting feedback on which pilots and ships to do. Now, this doesn't mean I'm asking for a torrent of comments telling me what I "should" do based on your personal preferences. Instead, here are some options, in the shape of a delightful Google Form. I'll leave this up until either there are obvious winners in each faction, or until just before the campaign ends, whichever comes first. THE POLL IS NOW CLOSED. THE WINNERS ARE-
Rebel- Braylen / Ten, B-Wing
Empire- Turr / Soontir, TIE Interceptor
Scum- Guri / Generic, Starviper
Resistance- Tali / L'ulo, RZ-2 A-Wing
First Order- Kylo / Blackout, TIE Silencer
Republic- Wolffe / Sinker, ARC-170
Separatist- Sear / Grievous, Belbullab
The design of the main cards will be a deliberate match to the previous Kickstarter designs, but I am chatting to a couple of other people about getting them on board to design stretch goal or add-on cards. I don't have anything concrete yet, so keep an eye out for updates.
And speaking of stretch goals, I'm not really sure what to do this time around. Suffice to say, if I reach the goal, there will be something extra, but it may need a little more thought than I have currently given it, as before, keep an eye on updates.
The timeline for this is as follows-
2nd of November- Campaign ends.
16th of November- Kickstarter release funds and I place order with manufacturer.
End of November / start of December- Production completes on cards, they get sent out to me.
1st / 2nd week of December- I get the cards and start sending them out to you all, hopefully in time for Christmas.
Risks and challenges
As before, the main risk is being hit with a cease and desist by FFG, in which case I shut down the project and refund everyone, Other than that, I am confident in my ability to get the product designed and supplied on time, and without the majority of the logistical problems that plagued me on fulfilment last time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
