As an elementary art teacher, one of the aspects I enjoy the most is the opportunity to share my love of art and to inspire children to express their own creativity. I also enjoy sharing my experiences and struggles while working for World Wrestling Entertainment to inspire commitment, determination and overcoming adversity. While academics are extremely important, one of the things I've noticed is how important it is for a child to possess an inner confidence, and to be okay with who they are, especially from an early age.
It seems that society teaches to children, as well as to adults, that the things you accumulate or how you look is more important than what’s within an individual. "No Beard The Pirate" is a story of four pirates who are on the hunt for that one thing that they think will "fix" them, and once they have it life will be great again. As their journey unfolds, they come to learn that it’s not what they are missing that is important, but it is what they have on the inside, and that what they were searching for they already possess. "No Beard the Pirate" is a story I feel will encourage children all over the world to accept who they are and demonstrate the point that appearances and ones current circumstances are much less important than what one has inside them.
I am also the illustrator for the book, so I just need help with raising the money to cover the publishing and printing costs. My publisher, Mascot Publishing (mascotbooks.com) is excited and ready to move forward!
Risks and challenges
Fortunately, my publisher Mascot Publishing (mascotbooks.com) is an established and respected publisher that has been putting out children's books since 2003. I do not foresee any challenges nor obstacles in completing my project once it is funded. The passion and determination that shaped my career with WWE and that I currently bring every day to the classroom, is the same passion and desire that I put into every project from start to finish.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
