New Year update

Hello everyone,

2014 is around the corner and we want to say a few words about where we are.

This next year will  be very important for us because that's the year when Legends of Eisenwald will be released. We really hope that you will like the game when it's done and that you will be getting a lot of quality playing time out of it.

This last year was very challenging and intense for our team. We were busy with the Greenlight campaign in the beginning of the year, then we ran out of funds a few months later but were lucky to find an investor. In May we got greenlit, and then kept working to release the game on Steam Early Access which was rather successful, in our opinion. More importantly, it gave us enough funding to finish the development and do a few other things, improving user interface is one example. Early Access showed us that the game is not as ready as we thought it was and it gave us a lot to work with. We keep working on the issues along with finishing the remaining things. Here is a picture that will be used in the new interface in some buildings:

All in all, 2013 made us learn a lot and brought us much more closer to the finishing line. The game is becoming better, we experimented with a few things that were suggested by the community, a lot of bugs were fixed, and overall the game is much more stable and playable.

Next steps

Next large update will be centered around the Map Editor. All the other chapters will be included at the release time, we want everyone who already played to receive the full impact of the experience. Closer to the release at some point we will raise the game price. We think this way it will be fair to all of you and our early supporters outside Kickstarter (for the same reason we didn't participate in Steam winter sale).

With the Map Editor on the horizon and continual other improvements, we will be working also on some promotional assets, which we hope you will enjoy as well.

We wish you a wonderful and successful 2014!

Keep working on it and don't upgrade to release version untill the game is really done!

Thanks for the update Aterdux, and the PMed link. Hope things are sorted soon. :)

AstralWanderer, it turns out Humble store doesn't have a version with Run Away chapter. We are making one right now and we will send it to them today, so hopefully it will be available shortly.

The HumbleStore page still doesn't provide a download link (only Steam key/gift key) - any idea when this may be fixed?

Never doubted your commitment. It looks good and glad you got the funding to complete it. Best wishes for the release in 2014. Definitely a Kickstarter that I'm glad I backed.

Hey Alex and team all the best for the new year!! Also as a backer, can I just say that I don't actually mind if people can buy it cheaper on steam at full release. I didn't view backing as just an early pre-order and hopeful/expected discount, but rather to help get this game made. That's my view at least and I'm sure many others would feel the same. Additionally, I also feel it's better for everyone if you can get more buyers/players so if that means keeping the lower price that's fine. I would expect the lower price (& more buyers/players) will also help get a good revenue stream going with the full release... which will lead to future content. Many of us have backed to qualify for future DLC, so we'll benefit down the track. ;-) Besides which, even from the very base tier (game + Discord Times $15), every backer here has still benefited more by backing, than if they had just purchased via steam early access at your current asking price. But if you want to raise it a little bit, that's your decision, just making sure you do it for the right reasons. Take care & looking forward to the final release!!
PS: I think your approach to make it right before release is best. Refine it as much as possible... which is an ironic thing to say because I would very much like to play the full game right now! :D

Thanks for the response, and a good 2014 to you too!

AstralWanderer, sorry for this, the link was there but now is missing (it wasn't there on the start, we added it later). I will write to the Humble folks and ask them about it... Happy New Year!

Asked this question a couple of updates ago and received no response - how can non-Steam backers get a copy? The HumbleStore page has no download option, only a Steam key/gift key option.

Are you planning to reissue Discord Times on a new engine? And yes I do not think the price increase a good idea (I myself backer).

I am proud to have backed you.

Hey Ralph, we already said once: hardcore game - hardcore development :) It's quite an adventure for sure.

Happy to hear of your success, what an adventure!
