100 Rooms Designed by You
I will be illustrating an epic sized, three dimensional, dungeon map that contains 100 rooms. Designing a truly massive dungeon map is something that I have been wanting to do for a while now. When I heard about the Make 100 initiative on Kickstarter, I felt this was a great opportunity to get other folks like you involved in creatively designing this huge dungeon. If successfully funded, you will receive a high quality art print on canvas that any gamer would be proud to display in their gaming room. The canvas will be 3 feet wide by 2 feet tall for a truly massive-sized map.
Adventurer Pledge Level $12 - You will receive a digital download of the finished map.
Hero Pledge Level $49 - You will receive a digital download of the finished map and one high quality printed map on canvas rolled in a protective tube.
Room Architect Pledge Level $55 - You will receive a digital download of the finished map, one high quality printed map on canvas rolled in a protective tube and you will also be able to name and come up with a theme for one of the rooms.
The dungeon will be digitally illustrated as a three dimensional isometric map where one bolded square equals five feet. I will not be using any 3D programs, but instead it will all be hand illustrated in great detail using a drawing tablet to give it a classic feel.
I have been a professional graphic designer for 23 years and throughout that time I have owned a web design company, a retail game store, a manufacturing company, and currently I work in gaming distribution. During this time I have also enjoyed freelancing as a game cartographer and have made maps for several different gaming companies.
I am looking forward to the challenge of this piece of art and working with 100 backers to come up with some cool ideas for this epic dungeon.
Below are a few samples of my work showcasing various styles of map design and terrain building.
Because everyone likes to see a face behind a Kickstarter campaign, here is a picture of me in front of a castle that has an actual dungeon, including a fully equipped torture room, iron maiden and all. Seriously, I really like dungeons.
I will have veto power over any name and room idea that you may come up with if I feel it to be offensive in anyway. That doesn't mean you won't be able to name a room, it just means I will work with you to come up with an idea that works. At the end of the Kickstarter you will have the opportunity to come up with a name for your room as well as give a little description of what the room is like.
Please try to stick with a fantasy dungeon theme for your room, but I will certainly entertain all kinds of ideas. I anticipate there being some overlap with ideas from backers. If that is the case, I will reach out to you so we can work out a unique room idea for you. That is not to say there can only be one dragon lair or one altar room, because some similar themes can be handled in very different ways. For example, altar room one is for lawful good clerics, and altar room two is for evil blood sacrifices.
Step 1: Complete Surveys - Once the Kickstarter is funded, you will have a chance to fill out a survey which will allow you to name your room and give a description of it.
Step 2: Planning - After receiving all of the completed surveys, I will begin to plan the dungeon layout so that I can make sure to fit 100 rooms with some sense of purpose and flow.
Step 3: A Room a Day - After the general layout is figured, I will then begin the journey of illustrating each room in detail according to your descriptions which should take 100 days.
Step 4: Printing - Once the map is complete, I will be sending the artwork off to the printers to get an artist proof so that I can approve the quality and color.
Step 5: Shipping - Once I am happy with the final proof it should take about 10 days to get back from the printer and then I will ship out your maps.
Step 6: Adventure Begins - Enjoy running your next group of adventures through an epic dungeon on a beautiful piece of art.
Shipping is free within the U.S. and discounted shipping will be added to countries outside of the U.S.

Risks and challenges
The challenges with this project will be time involved in drawing 100 rooms. I plan to draw at least one room per day, which means the map should get done in 100 days from the time I receive and organize all the room ideas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
