A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Two things inspired me to create Cup Buddy, the first was my love for taking care of our planet (we’ll get to that in a minute), the second was my mom. I grew up with a single mom who took me and my sister everywhere. When she wasn’t working she was running my sister and I from place to place. She would always try to bring our favorite snacks for us which meant that her purse ended up a mess of crumbs, wrappers, and old snacks. I wanted to figure out a way to make snacking much simpler.

We knew we had a special idea, even more so when we started to get feedback on it, now it was our job to bring it to life. That’s easier said than done, but with a little resourcefulness, we soon had our first prototype. It was way too big (you could have fit a bucket of chicken in it). A few minor setbacks and just a couple months later, the first two Cup Buddy’s were 3D printed. Now that we could hold it in our hands, the idea had become a reality.
We went through a few size changes.

SAVING OUR PLANET
As I mentioned earlier, a huge inspiration for this project was doing something to help the planet. Here’s some unfortunate facts, approximately one trillion plastic bags are disposed of improperly every year. 14 billion tons of plastic ends up in our oceans every year, this causes the deaths of about 100,000 marine animals annually. Putting an end to this is a long process, but we hope to do our part, and make an effort to improve our beautiful Earth.
Single-use plastic is hurting our oceans. We can do something about it.
Plastic accounts for 90% of all debris in the ocean, with single-use plastic causing the most harm. Plastic bags take anywhere from 10 to 1000 years to decompose, so to put a stop to this, we all have to do our part.
WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?
So what, specifically, will the money be used for? Well, the majority of it will be used to purchase our tooling for production. That alone costs more than half of our funding goal. The rest will be used for our first production run and packaging. We will also need to rent a warehouse and office space. Anything leftover will go towards our next production run and of course the more we are able to raise, the faster we can get Cup Buddy in your hands.
Immediately after we reach our funding goal we will expedite our tooling to start production. During production we will move into a warehouse and wait for our first products to arrive. As long as everything arrives on schedule we should be shipping within two months of funding.

Founder and CEO, Denny Dore
Hey everybody! I'm Denny Dore, I'm a 20 year old entrepreneur who loves coming up with new ideas and finding ways to bring them to life. I've been creating and running businesses since I was 16 and I've made many mistakes and learned a lot along the way. Entrepreneurship is extremely important to me, because no matter where we come from and whatever situation we are in, there is always an opportunity. But in business, wherever there is an opportunity to succeed, there is also an opportunity to give back. I am a Muscogee Native American, and for the past 150 years our many tribes and our culture have been fighting to survive. With this project, I hope to be able to help them, there is so much we can do to help, but more importantly than that, we can inspire other young kids to be creative and come up with their own unique ideas, then find ways to act on those ideas as well.
Risks and challenges
We're so excited to bring Cup Buddy to the public! Starting a new project is never easy, especially when your product isn't really related to many others. You never know what you're getting yourself into, but that can also be the most exciting part. We certainly have a lot riding on this campaign and we'll stop at nothing to give you our very best. We've factored in some extra time for any unexpected delays that might occur, to make sure you receive your Cup Buddy in a timely manner.
-Warranty: Cup Buddy is pretty tough to break, but if you receive a defective Cup Buddy, or yours breaks, all products have a 90 day warranty. Also, because Cup Buddy is committed to being 100% environmentally friendly, if your Cup Buddy EVER breaks we will pay shipping back so it can be recycled properly.
-Manufacturing and Shipping: We manufacture in the same town that we operate in, so Cup Buddy will go from Kickstarter to your hand very quickly after our campaign ends.
