About this project
In short, Non Profit is a mockumentary-style sitcom that follows the staff of E.P.I.C. (Evangelical Pentecostal International Church). Written and directed by a group of people with a wide range of denominational backgrounds, Non Profit puts a comedic spin on stereotypes and idiosyncrasies that are often found within the church. Through our talented cast, we showcase that "church" can often be a little preposterous and that it is good to step back, see what other people see, laugh at our different and quirky ways, and be comforted in the fact that we are not alone.
First and foremost, we aspire to have a constant message of Love and good humor present in every aspect of the production. We believe that God's House is always good...and full of broken people caught in the constant flow of hurting, healing, and leaning into grace.
MEET THE CREW!
Tabbs is the creator and visionary of Non Profit. She is passionate about film and its process. Currently, Tabbs is a Multimedia Instructional Tech at the University of Arizona - Phoenix and the Media Director for RevTV.
Christina has been apart of Non Profit from the very beginning as a writer and actress. She has been involved with theater and drama for the past 10 years and is currently finishing her degree in photography.
Micah Rose is a Kansas City native and has been involved with theater and drama for over 15 years as a writer and actress. She has directed 3 movies in the last year and has just finished producing her third. Micah has also been a live Broadcast Producer for 4 years, as well as a Creative Media Producer/Writer.
Chris picked up his first camera in 2005 and has not put it down since. This past year, Chris has been the Director of Photography for over 10 films, as well as working as a producer on a few others. He is completing his last year as a Full Sail University student to receive a degree in Digital Cinematography.
With the first season under our belt, we begin the planning and creating of season 2 with a bit more experience and wisdom. There is a full cast, camera crew, a script and a network (RevTV!) ready and waiting to film, but we realize we can't proceed in excellence without some financial backing and dedicated prayers. Pray about it, watch a few (or all) of the episodes of Season 1 that are available online (http://www.revtv.com/schedule.aspx?parentnavigationid=21060), and dream with us.
We need your help to get this out there. Partner with us.
Risks and challenges
The staff at Non Profit is largely made up of volunteers - people who desire to spread the same vision and message as Tabbitha.. with no extra charge. One fallback of this is that motivation to meet deadlines and to give everything you have can run thin, especially in the middle of the mundane and creative blocks. It is going to be a challenge to keep energy and team work high and deadlines met, especially in post production. We are working on this by creating a summer internship of sorts - during post production we will open up the opportunity for interns to come and help. They will be our "fresh blood," so to speak.
This accompanies the ever present problem of time. Because this is nobody's full time job, everybody will have to deal with budgeting time into their already busy schedule. I, personally, know that everyone involved has a heart for this and, therefore, will see it through, even over lost sleep. However, making sure there is adequate time to do an excellent job will be a challenge in itself and a large commitment that we have made.
Another risk we are taking is getting our message across appropriately and in love. The material we are dealing with can be controversial at times, especially to our target audience. Not all of us are local so we only have a specific time slot in which we can film everything and "get it right." Having all of the actors deliver lines correctly and in love will be tricky. We are bringing in an acting coach to help with this to hopefully help make this easier and to help push this thing into excellence.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
