The PART 2 Teaser is here!
What is Matching Pursuit?
Rachel Blumenfield-Goldenfeinberger has never taken a risk in her life. A devoted student of statistics, she knows when the odds are stacked against her. But when her professor, tutee, classmate, and grandmother each challenge her to be open to life's possibilities, she knows that something's gotta give. As Rachel discovers the unpredictability of the world, she approaches her obstacles in the only way she knows how: with rules, logic, and the laws of reason. Will her meticulous plan work? Maybe not. She might just realize there's one pesky variable that has a way of skewing everything: chance.
Matching Pursuit follows Rachel’s journey as she breaks out of her shell, seeks romance, and discovers unlikely friendship. While this series is certainly a comedy, our viewers find this story meaningful and touching. We hope to capture what is both hilarious and heartbreaking about navigating the world on your own.
This past June, we released Part One of the first season of Matching Pursuit. Part One consisted of Episodes 1-3, and you can watch them here. We’re delighted to report that we’ve now filmed Part Two (Episodes 4-6), and we can’t wait to share it with you! To do so, we need your help.

Why does Matching Pursuit need donations?
We love working on Matching Pursuit, and we’re so happy the series has reached so many viewers. Until now, Matching Pursuit has been funded completely out-of-pocket by the co-creators. We’re so proud of what we created on a shoestring budget, and we’ve learned a great deal, but we want to make this project a sustainable one. In order to keep this project alive and growing, we are seeking $10,000 to offset our production costs -- including crew fees, editing, color, sound, set decoration and props, and craft services. Our stretch goal of $15,000 will help us pay for the maintenance and growth of Matching Pursuit. These costs include film festival submission fees, events, marketing, website costs, and Vimeo fees that allow us to provide free online HD viewing. We hope you’ll help us reach our stretch goal so we can grow a wider audience for Matching Pursuit!
What makes this web series different?
We reached out to some of our viewers and asked them why this series is special, and here’s what they have to say:
It’s rare to see a program with such diversity of roles -- characters range from age 9 to 95!
The series is a coming of age story that is both funny and honest, tender and lighthearted
The production value -- particularly for a web series -- is of the highest quality
Who is the Matching Pursuit team?
Nora Fiffer and Rachel Abrams are the co-creators, writers, and producers of the series. For details about all the cast and crew, visit our website. For more information about Nora and Rachel, see the “About You” section.
Why are we making Matching Pursuit?
This project means a lot to us. Every single person involved is doing something they’ve never done before. Nora is a first-time film director and producer, Rachel is a first-time screenwriter and costume designer, Zac is a first-time director/editor of a narrative film, Lillian is a first-time actress (at age 95!). We want to continue to stretch, learn, improve, and work outside of our comfort zone. And most of all, we want to share this story with you. This web series is for viewers of all ages and experiences. We believe that the core elements of this story — finding balance, overcoming loneliness, and seeking understanding — are universal. We want more people to see the show and enjoy it. We hope to bring it to a bigger screen someday and share the story with a wider audience.
When is the fundraising period?
We have 30 days to fulfill our goal. Kickstarter is an all or nothing funding effort, so if we don’t reach our goal by November 22, we won’t receive any of the donations. Please consider donating now, and spreading the word about the project. By donating to our Kickstarter campaign and sharing our effort via email, Facebook, and Twitter, you will make Part Two of Matching Pursuit possible. Thank you for your support!
In what other ways can I contribute or get involved?
If you have other skills or resources you’d like to contribute to Matching Pursuit, we’d love to hear from you! For example, we’re always on the hunt for great locations, production assistants, extras, marketing and outreach support, and contacts to larger-scale media and producers. If you’ve got an idea of how to help Matching Pursuit grow, please contact us here.
Risks and challenges
With any independent artistic endeavor, there are both risks and challenges. In fact, we've faced some! We're proud to have overcome our challenge of limited resources. We managed to complete the first three episodes of Matching Pursuit on a shoestring budget. With funding from Kickstarter, Matching Pursuit can be a sustainable project. We took the risk to develop a story we care about in the hopes that other people will care, too. We believe that when you create work that you believe in, your audience will find you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
