First off, thank you very much for taking the time to check out my project. Werewolf has been a big part of my life and I'm so glad to be sharing the cards and getting more and more people to have fun with the game.
For those of you who don't know about the awesome game of Werewolf or about my previous project that sold the starter set of Werewolf cards, please visit this link. If you don't feel like clicking the link, please just know that I didn't create the game of Werewolf, I just created artwork on cards to use when playing the game, or to use as a bookmark, or to throw at your little sister - it's really whatever you want to use them for.
Also, if you like what you see and would like to purchase the original set of Werewolf cards (that includes a plastic case and original rule book) to add to this expansion set, visit my online store here. Limited quantities available. Purchasing here is the only way to receive the entire original deck, complete with case and original rule book.
Select one of the pledge levels marked "Original + Expansion" and get the basic original deck (1/2 amount of cards) plus all of the new expansion cards and the new custom box. The original deck will include a select number of the cards below:
Now that that business is out of the way, onto the new cards!
This expansion set is going to include many of the character cards that you guys wanted during the first project, that I wasn't able to create. This new set will include 26 cards, with 13 guaranteed new characters. There will be 2 copies of each character unless stretch goals are met. Then there could be up to 26 single character cards through stretch goals (but more on that later). Here's a rundown of the new characters and what their gameplay could entail.
WOLF PUP - A werewolf pup. If he is killed, the remaining werewolves will take revenge and get one extra kill that night.
SPIRIT - The spirit is a character who dies the first night, no matter what. The spirit sees all and returns from the grave each day and is allowed to leave a one letter message to the villagers to help them find the werewolves. No spelling names though, that's too easy.
ELDER - The elder is, well, old. Really old. This player will automatically die after a certain number of nights. Determined by the number of players.
SKINWALKER - This character, when prompted at night, chooses another player and copies their identity (even a werewolf). This can happen many times during the game.
THIEF - This character, when prompted at night, may steal another player's card and the Thief card is given to that player and continues to move throughout the game.
ZOMBIE - Zombies like to bite, so each night, the zombie will bite and infect another player. If the zombie can infect all other players before they themselves are killed, zombies win!
VAMPYRE - Vampyre's like to hypnotize, so each night, a Vampyre selects another player and they are compelled to vote however the Vampyre does.
MODERATOR - This player runs the game and keeps the fun going.
INVENTOR - The inventor has created a machine to sniff out werewolves. Pass two coins or other small objects randomly from player to player once each night. These are the missing components the inventor needs for his machine. If the inventor obtains the coins or small objects, the moderator will then tell the inventor who is one of the werewolves.
DOLOS - This character is the god of trickery and loves to cause problems. During the night phase, Dolos may pick two people and they will have to switch cards. What a jerk.
DRUNKARD - This character is, well, drunk. This player may only talk in a slurred voice and/or through gestures. Lots of fun.
LEADER - This character is the leader of the villagers and gets two votes during the day phase when deciding who to kill in the search for the werewolves.
ALPHA - This character is an Alpha werewolf and is very powerful. This player may choose another player and turn them into a werewolf during one night phase.
That's it for the guaranteed new characters. If we get close to fully funding the project, I'll be uploading the images for additional characters to be obtained through stretch goals.
If you have a specific character you would like to see included in the stretch goals, please comment and let me know.
In addition to the cards, you will also receive a handy rule book that will include how to play the game, along with a list of all of the variant character cards and how they change up the gameplay from both this expansion set and the original set of cards. I will upload an image of the final design once I get a proof from my printer. Also, the rule book will be small enough to fit inside the new tuck box.
The custom tuck box will be big enough to hold 108 cards. That means you will have plenty of room for your original set, as well as this new expansion and any other expansion that might pop up in the future. I will upload a finalized image of the tuck box once I get a proof from my printer.
DONT FORGET! THE FIRST 450 BACKERS WILL RECEIVE AN AWESOME WEREWOLF BUTTON!!!
That's pretty much it, guys. I'll post more about stretch goals if we get close to the funding goal. Thanks so much for the support and for taking the time to view my project. Thanks!
All goals apply to every deck set.
UNLOCKED - The card "Harlot" will be added to the deck. The "Harlot" is much like the "Seer". The "Harlot" has her ways of getting info at night, so during the night phase of the game, the moderator will ask the "Harlot" to select another player and then she, cough, cough..."gets the info" on whether or not someone is a werewolf. The only problem is if she does find a werewolf, then the moderator will flip a coin to see if she survives the encounter. These rules are not my original idea and are just a suggestion.
UNLOCKED - The card "Idiot" will be added to the deck. The "Idiot" doesn't always make the smartest of choices. In fact, he never does. To try and look smart, the"idiot" always votes with majority during the day phase. If his "dumb luck" lets him survive until the end of the game, then the "Idiot" will win the game!
UNLOCKED - The card "Lycan" will be added to the deck. The "Lycan" is part of a clan of people that worship Werewolves. They still hunt and kill Werewolves, but only to feel closer or connected to them. They wear the pelts of those they kill, create weapons from their claws and teeth, drink their blood...yeah, it can be a bit much. Anyways, because of their great connection to the Werewolves, during the game, if a "Seer" looks at their aura, they will see them as a Werewolf, not as a human. Somewhat unlucky.
UNLOCKED - The card "Butcher" will be added to the deck. The "Butcher" is a pretty important guy. Everyone in the village looks to him to provide them with meat they need to survive. Without him, they'd, well...die. If the "Butcher" is killed, then the town has three days to kill the remaining Werewolves, so they can venture out to another village for food. If the Werewolves are not killed within the three days, the Werewolves win because all of the villagers have starved to death. So sad.
UNLOCKED - The card "Gypsy" will be added to the deck. The "Gypsy" is very mysterious. She comes from a long line of fortune tellers, but her ability is a little different from most. The "Gypsy" can sense her own impending doom, but only from a supernatural attacker. This is very taxing on the "Gypsy", so she can only do it once. During the game, if she is attacked by Werewolves (or other supernatural creature, i.e. zombie, etc.), the "Gypsy" may escape unscathed, but only once during gameplay. Once she's used her ability, she is a normal villager for the rest of the game.
If we reach $11,500- the card "Diseased" will be added to the deck. The "Diseased" card is exactly what you think it is. This poor guy went and ate something he shouldn't have and is seriously bad off. One good thing about this guy is if the Werewolves decide to eat him, they get a bit of a stomach ache and won't be able to attack the following night. It's a win/win scenario.... except for the "Diseased" guy, he doesn't really win in any scenario.
If we reach $12,000- the card "White Wolf" will be added to the deck. The "White Wolf" is pretty cool. The "White Wolf" is a loner and doesn't play by the rules of any pack. In fact, he doesn't like other Werewolves at all. He's even gotten into several fights with other Werewolves. The "White Wolf" wants his one man wolf pack to reign supreme. During the game, every other night, the "White Wolf" will be asked who he wants to kill separately from all of the other Werewolves. He may even attack and kill another Werewolf if he chooses. If the "White Wolf" manages to kill/outlast all of the other Werewolves, he wins. If the Werewolves win the game, play continues until either the "White Wolf" wins or the regular Werewolves. It's a bitter feud until the very end!
If we reach $12,500- the card "Artist" will be added to the deck.
If we reach $13,000- the card "Devil" will be added to the deck.
If we reach $13,500- the card "Cleric" will be added to the deck.
If we reach $14,000- the card "Lunatic" will be added to the deck.
If we reach $14,500- the card "???" will be added to the deck.
If we reach $15,000- the card "???" will be added to the deck.
I was recently asked to be part of another game project to create an exclusive edition of the game, using my art. So if you like my art, please check out MICRO PLAY-BREAK: CASTLES.
Risks and challenges
This is my second Kickstarter project, so I'm hoping I've covered all of the bases I missed the first time around. Hopefully.
There is always the potential for production and/or shipping delays. The cards will be produced in the US, so I don't foresee many problems there, but the rule books and custom boxes are being produced overseas and will take additional time to produce. I've been quoted 8 to 12 weeks for production time, hopefully no longer, but there's always a chance. Please know that I will do everything in my power to get everything printed and shipped out as quickly as possible.
Also, there is always the risk that everyone will be sick and tired of me saying "buy my cards, please" and will not back the project, causing the project not to be funded and the expansion set would never see the light of day. That would be sad. So very, very sad.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
