About this project
Anyone can install VOCCA, as it requires no wifi, no hub and no configuration. The regular light switch still works when VOCCA is connected so habits don't need to change. It's a product for life as you don't need to buy a new one when your bulb dies.
SmartBulbs are a pretty smart gadget, but they lack one very important thing, a good user experience for everyday use. Who wants to pull out their smartphone to control lighting? VOCCA is focused on real life use rather than being “cool” for a week.

VOCCA is based on voice recognition technology from Sensory Inc., the world's leading voice recognition technology company.
VOCCA Pro uses TobyRich Bluetooth Smart and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) app design.
VOCCA is on 24/7 in search of the trigger phrase. Once found, it commands its relay to transfer the power from the mains to your light bulb and voila – there’s light (or darkness).

Risks and challenges
1. Voice Recognition:
Voice recognition is a challenging task. Using the technology and support from Sensory, we managed to a put up a product that works 24/7, listening and waiting for your trigger. We managed to get the False Acceptance and False Rejection rates low which means how many times the light will turn on/off without anyone saying the trigger and how many times it will not react to a trigger being said.
2. Heat Management:
Heat coming from the incandescent light bulb posed a big issue for us. After many tests, and seeing that we did not get the results we were looking after, we decided to handle only energy saving bulbs (LED, CFL) which consume much less energy and produce far less heat. This goes alongside with the United States Lighting Energy Policy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Lighting_Energy_Policy ) and the phasing out of incandescent light bulbs all around the world.
