ABOUT TEACHERS LOUNGE:
Teachers Lounge is a web series about two friends, a music teacher (Ted Alexandro) and a janitor (Hollis James), who are always hanging out in the teachers’ lounge of the NYC elementary school where they work.
Every episode features some of your favorite comedians as guest stars. Picture these people working in an elementary school: Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black, Janeane Garofalo, Judy Gold, Judah Friedlander, Jim Norton, Dave Attell, Rachel Feinstein, Michael Che, Todd Barry and musician Ted Leo. Come on! That’s pretty funny.
WHO WE ARE:
Hi, I’m Ted Alexandro. I wrote and created Teachers Lounge with my best friend, Hollis James. We met at Queens College, where we wrote and performed sketch comedy together. After graduating, we hit the open mic scene in NYC, performing as comedy's last duo. Eventually, I started doing solo stand up comedy, which I’ve been doing all over the world for about twenty years now. I've been on TV. I've even appeared on Carson. Multiple times. Carson Daly.
At the heart of our show is friendship: the one Hollis and I share, and the many friendships I’ve developed over the years with some of the best comedians in the world. Hollis and I write the scripts with these comedians in mind and then make room for them to improvise. It always results in something really cool and very funny. I am incredibly proud of what we've created.
Hi, I’m Hollis James, and there are very few things that excite me. Teachers Lounge is one of them. It gets me out of bed to write. It gives me a chance to work with my best friend, Ted Alexandro. It allows me to riff with some of the best comedians on the planet. I can’t put a price on that. If I could, it would be fifty-thousand dollars. Unfortunately I can’t possibly raise that money myself. Hopefully that’s where you come in. Please take a minute to donate whatever money you can spare to help us reach our goal. In exchange, I’d be happy to do something for you. (No rough stuff.) Thanks for visiting. I look forward to writing more episodes for you.
Hi, I’m Matthew L. Weiss, the director/editor of Teachers Lounge. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with comedy heavyweights like Jerry Seinfeld, Sam Seder, Sarah Silverman, Colin Quinn, Marc Maron, and David Cross, none of which has prepared me for the pleasure and joy of working on Teachers Lounge. As Ted said above, the heart of this show truly is friendship and for me that’s the best part of a project like this - working along side two guys that I’d have been natural buddies with even if they didn’t need me to know stuff like lenses, budgets and computer-editing programs. In addition to my filmed comedy experience, I bring a lifetime of loving improv, sketch and cinema, as well as a deep proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Final Cut Pro, all of which you will see up on the screen in Teachers Lounge.
WHY WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS:
We’re raising funds for this project on Kickstarter because we wanted to shoot this show professionally- the way it deserves to be shot, and that takes money. We've shot four and with your help we can finish shooting and editing the next six episodes. That's a grand total of ten hilarious episodes. We believe there’s an audience out there, just waiting to see their favorite comedians in a way they haven’t been seen before. So that's why we are appealing directly to you, and we’re offering great prizes as a thank you to everyone who shows their support!
Your generosity will not only help us create this show, but will send a message that there’s still grassroots support for smaller, DIY projects like ours. It's exciting to establish a connection with you, the audience, from the beginning stages of the project. You can help give your favorite comedians a forum in which to shine. Please take a look at the rewards and see if there’s anything you’d pay cold hard cash for…
Thanks again for visiting our page! We hope you’ll spread the word when the series officially launches this summer. Until then, if you want us, you can find us in the Teachers Lounge.*

Risks and challenges
We overcame the many risks and challenges involved in shooting and editing a web series when we finished the first four episodes of Teachers Lounge. We know what it takes to see a project through to completion and, with a great team in place, we are very confident that all ten episodes will be ready for you this summer!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
