About this project
Who We Are:
The Art Haus SLC was started by three Latina women who are very passionate about bringing contemporary arts experiences to the community in Salt Lake City. Each of us has a strong connection to this city and to its people. We specifically chose Salt Lake City because we knew members of this community would be excited by opportunities to participate in progressive arts experiences. We are delighted to share our talents, vision and passion for arts education with you.
What We’re About:
The Art Haus SLC is dedicated to connecting members of the Salt Lake community with contemporary arts in multiple disciplines by creating opportunities for them to engage in and discover new artistic endeavors through exhibitions, performances and other digital programming. Our goal is to create an environment that promotes supportive dialogue about the arts and their meaning. We hope to share the process and products of artistic creation through our programs and through the use of new technologies to enhance arts education.
Why We Are Awesome!:
Salt Lake City is a cultural hub and has a burgeoning contemporary arts scene. A number of arts organizations bring to the city art exhibitions, dance, theater, and opportunities for artists, young and old. However, The Art Haus SLC is different in that we are a multidisciplinary arts organization that will bring in global arts experiences to the community through traditional programming (exhibitions, performances, workshops, etc.) and through new media technologies that will enhance the arts education experience. We want to bring the world to Salt Lake and have the world see us as makers of art. But to do this we will need your help!!
What We Are Asking for:
The Art Haus SLC is asking for $5,000 to support programming during our 2012 year.
Your money will fund:Guest Lecturer
- Space rental for our guest lecturer ($50)
- Stipend for guest lecturer ($100)
- Event prep and costs for marketing and outreach ($150)
- Webcast/video production ($50)
- Space rental for our Dance-A-Thon ($300)
- Event prep and costs for marketing and outreach ($500)
- Water/Juice for performance groups and guests ($150)
- Sound mechanic ($250)
- Stipend for guest performers, approx. 12 individual/groups ($1200)
- Gallery rental ($300)
- Travel and art transportation costs ($500)
- Gallery lighting ($200)
- Installation ($350)
- Catalogue printing ($150)
- Event prep and printing for marketing and outreach ($500)
Staff stipends for 3 staff members ($350)
The Art Haus SLC will also accept in-kind donations for digital technology (e.g. digital cameras, video recorders, digital projectors, etc.). Although we recognize this type of donation does not contribute to our Kickstarter fund, we welcome these types of contributions that support and strengthen our work. Please contact us directly if you choose to make this type of donation rather than a monetary one.
