About this project
Questionable Content is a long-running internet comic strip about robots, romance, and butt jokes. It started in 2003 and has over 3000 full-color comic strips available to read for free online! If you're not familiar with the comic, it's set in a present-day college town in Western Massachusetts and follows the lives of an intertwined group of twentysomethings as they navigate love, friendship, and life in general. There are also lots of robots running around everywhere, because in the QC universe we figured out the whole AI thing a while ago.
We've been making print editions for the past few years, and it's time for the sixth volume, collecting comics 1500-1799. The book will be a full-color, 5x7" collection featuring all-new commentary on each strip as well as some other cool bonus material. There's lots of Marigold being awkward in this one. Hannelore and Sven go on a date! Faye makes out with Angus a bunch and is VERY ANGSTY. There's a Roomba with a jet engine. It's a pretty good time.
We have some very cool reward tiers, check out this amazing jpeg:
All backers at the PDF level and higher will get the PDF version as well! We're doing a cute lil' bookmark set for most backer tiers:
We also have some FANTASTIC stretch goals in mind if we make it to that point. The idea is that we'll reprint the first three QC collections in the 5x7" format of the more recent ones! That way they all match on your shelf and look all spiffy. We'll use a site called Backerkit, which will allow backers to add other volumes (including the reprints if we reach those goals), as well as additional copies of volume 6. There's no need to worry about overpledging right now: you can settle the cost difference via Backerkit using your credit or debit card.
Risks and challenges
Printing books comes with its own set of challenges, but we'll be working with the fine folks at Make That Thing to do production and order fulfillment. They have a stellar track record and are well-equipped to handle any issues that might come up in terms of print costs, delays, or shipping issues. I have full confidence in their ability to fulfill this project!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
