My project is simple: I make original art cards! Until now, I have set up the files and sent them to a printer to print, but to save cost, I have cut, scored, folded & packaged them myself. I do this in very small batches that cost more per card. It has been a really good experience because over the years, I have learned very directly what people like and which designs perform best at different sales outlets.
For this Kickstarter project, I want to take the next big step as a working artist: place my first bulk order with the printer and let them do the scoring, folding and cutting professionally. The price per card goes down if I order more than 100 at a time, and I need a healthy inventory so that I may supply additional boutique shops around Humboldt County and elsewhere who would like to carry my cards. I need to maximize my ordering, but I need a little help with the cost to take this leap into greater scale production -- and ideally -- business growth!
Anyone who pledges to help "kickstart" my art cards business towards a new stage of growth gets two things: (an) actual card(s) & the satisfaction of knowing you helped a local, original art card business get into stores!
Risks and challenges
This is a low risk project. I have produced my cards & sold them at 4th of July Festival in Eureka, CA, The Artisan's Craft & Music Festival in Eureka, The Holiday Craft Market in Arcata, CA, The Holiday Bazaar in Eureka, North Coast Open Studios, Arts Alive! in Eureka, RoseCon in Portland, Oregon and currently they are sold at Because Coffee & Eureka Books in Eureka, CA.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
