Conference of the Stars is a journey into the ancient stories of the night sky, performed on solo classical guitar by Taylor Brown. From Sunset to Sunrise, original compositions and improvisations weave their way through the long lost Greek melodies of Haralampos Eckmeksoglou. After months of practice, it was recorded live to tape at Barefoot Recording, in one day. With your help, we will produce a vinyl record edition that will have never touched a computer!
Thanks to super-engineer Cian Riordan, Conference of the Stars was recorded through a combination of vintage and modern microphones, through a custom, Class-A UndertoneAudio LC console, into a Studer A-800 2" tape deck. The master reels were then cut with a razor blade and mixed down entirely in the analog realm to 1/2" tape. Translation: amazing sound and no computers! We know that not everyone has a working record player- but fear not! Because of the analog recording process, the album will still sound great on CD and high quality digital download. Click here to listen to some pre-release selections from the album.
Once we get your pledges, the tape reels will be (carefully!) driven over to Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood where the vinyl lacquers will be cut by the man himself! Finally, the vinyl will be pressed to audiophile quality 180-gram vinyl by RTI. Your pledges will also go towards the costs of engineering and art. Every reward $50 & over includes a handmade dark chocolate record lollipop, and every reward over $300 includes more!
Here's a little bit more about the concept behind the album. Conference of the Stars begins with Sunset and flows through the night sky all the way to Sunrise. In between we find planets, constellations and dreams. For millennia, humans have abstracted their busy daytime lives by finding narrative and meaning in the night sky. May this music inspire a story within your own mind.
