About this project
Pirate Dice: Voyage on the Rolling Seas is a game for 2 to 4 players that pits pirate vs. pirate in an epic race to capture and escape with the lost treasure. But the seas are treacherous and full of peril as strong winds, whirlpools, and your fellow buccaneers will attempt to thwart your voyage and claim the treasure as their own. You will need more than pure speed to win. Use your wits to block, ram, and fire at your opponents (while doing your best to keep them from doing the same to you!). As you take damage, it will become more difficult to pilot your ship. But no matter, Treasure awaits! So raise the anchor, load the cannons, and hoist the main sail -- there's no room for lily-livered land-lubbers here! It takes a shrewd captain with a sharp eye to navigate the rolling seas of Pirate Dice!
Pirate Dice: Voyage on the Rolling Seas was conceived of by first time designer Clint Herron. Clint originally designed Pirate Dice as a robot-themed print-and-play game entitled RoboDerby: Express. RoboDerby: Express was a finalist for the 2011 Golden Geek awards for Best Print & Play, and in the 2011 Print 'n Play Awards it won "Best PnP 2 player game", "Best PnP Intermediate Game", and "2011 PnP Game of the Year". Players roll and place navigation dice to issue commands and pilot their ships around the map. Commands can move ships forward, turn them, fire cannons, and even interfere directly with their opponents. There are 5 navigation dice and 4 command slots on the Player Mat to place them in, one die will be unused each turn. Once commands are finalized into slots for the turn, all players will process the first command slot. Once commands in the first slot have been executed for all players, the second slot is processed, and so on through all four slots.
Inside the Pirate Dice box you will find:
- 20 Navigation Dice in 4 different colors (5 per player)
- 1 Treasure Die
- 4 Player Mats
- 4 Ship Dice
- 6 Map Boards (see "The Maps" below)
- The Rulebook

Pirate Dice: Voyage on the Rolling Seas will come with six unique modular maps, allowing for a multitude of different board combinations. Below are images of four of the six maps from the base game.

Backers of Pirate Dice can choose to receive some exciting rewards. In addition to the six maps included in the base game, Kickstarter backers can choose to receive two additional maps, bringing the map total to eight!
The first map (Map #1) will be Pirate's Peril (pictured below). What will the second additional map be? Well, that's for you to decide! Check out the map design contest information below!

As a "Thank You" to all the backers for helping Pirate Dice reach its goal in less than four days ALL copies of Pirate Dice: Voyage on the Rolling Seas will include player screens for all four players. Also, the inside of the player screens will act as a quick reference card!
Stretch Goal #1 - $15,000
The first official stretch goal will be at $15,000 and will be the Capture the Treasure expansion! Capture the Treasure includes two new maps and an additional treasure die. This expansion introduces team play to Pirate Dice. Two team's attempt to steal the opposing teams treasure and race back to their home port before the other team makes it back with theirs!
Everyone who pledged at the $45 level and above will get this expansion when the $15K goal is reached!
Stretch Goal #2 - $22,500
If Pirate Dice hits $22,500 then every copy of Pirate Dice will have double-sided maps! That means instead of the original 6 maps, you will now get 12. This upgrade also applies to the 2 bonus maps and the Capture the Treasure Expansion maps. So if you back at the $45 level you will get the 12 original maps, 4 bonus maps, and 4 Capture the Treasure Maps, for a total of 20 different maps!
The second part of the super double goal is the Ghost Ship mini-expansion which includes the special Ghost Ship Die.
The Ghost Ship is a phantom vessel that rises from the ghostly depths when a player recovers the cursed treasure. The Ghost Ship will relentlessly hunt down the owner of the treasure in an attempt to drag the ship down to its watery grave.
Also, as with the Capture the Treasure Expansion, the Ghost Ship mini-expansion is only for the $45 level and above.
