About this project
Special Announcement! All Stretch Goals Unlocked!
You are a humble fisherman in medieval Japan, where the bustling cities of the island have a constant hunger for all manner of seafood. The sea is bountiful and you know well-stocked waters that have clams, prawn, mackerel, and sea bream. However, the fierce competition in these waters will require you to apply your skill and ingenuity to out-fish the others!
With other fishermen now casting their nets and hauling in a tidy profit at the market, the fish market is now quite selective in what they want to purchase and for how much. Therefore, you must save money for better quality sails and nets to beat the competition. And perhaps you should consider a bribe to a collaborator to gain insight into what the market is looking for next? The choice is yours in the ever-challenging fish market of Isaribi!
Isaribi is a game that seems simplistic at first glance, yet has a deceptively strategic depth in actuality. This subtle approach is a tribute to Japanese ingenuity, where balancing your budget (Ryō) is key to being the most successful fisherman in the province. The object of the game is to have the most Ryō at the end of 5 rounds. You achieve this goal by setting sail and catching various types of sea life, be it diving for clams, trapping prawn, or netting the prized mackerel and sea bream. After you have taken in a good haul you must sell your catch at the market, where the fish hawkers are constantly demanding different types of seafood.
Beware, your fellow fishermen may beat you to the market and sell their catch to meet the demand before you can sell a single prawn! There are ways to circumvent your pesky rivals, however, by preserving your catch adequately enough to sell to the next round of hawkers.
Another tactic is to invest your hard earned Ryō, allowing you to improve your fishing vessel while in harbor. Better quality nets will ensure that you catch more fish, while silken sails will increase the speed of your boat, making you that much more efficient.
There are many strategies, yet only one goal. Using your skills of cunning, patience, and well-thought-out timing will win you the game!

Breaking News! Add-Ons Around the World
While Supplies Last Only!
If you want an add-on and live outside the USA or Canada, then we can add these to your shipment while supplies last!
We will sell add-ons on a first-come, first-served basis for all NON - USA & Canadian backers as there are only a limited number of copies in stock in our locations in Europe, Australia, and Asia.
Please send us a message via Kickstarter stating which add-on(s) you would like along with your location, and we will handle the rest. Shipping is based on location and will be factored in during the survey process after the campaign has ended.
Isaribi was created by Japanese game designer Hisashi Hayashi. Other games that he has designed are Yokohama, Trains and Sail to India. His style and approach for Isaribi has a subtle depth that will keep you coming back for more. The game takes about 45 - 60 minutes to play and can accommodate 3 - 5 players. Isaribi is a perfect game for the family to enjoy on game night and is also well suited as a warm up game for those of you who are into deep strategy games.
We are just delighted that we have been joined from the start of this Kickstarter by our primary print partner: Arclight Games. Without them, Isaribi would not have been possible.
BACKERS from Japan: Please pledge through this American Kickstarter for Isaribi. We will then work with Arclight to be sure that your individual copy of the game makes it to you in Japan. When the survey is sent to you after the Kickstarter ends, please be sure to give us your phone number and your address in Japanese characters: これ読める？ Otherwise your parcel may not be deliverable. If you have any questions, be sure to ask us and either someone from our staff or from Arclight will answer you. Thanks for your support!
We want to give a special thanks to our other Fulfillment Partners below from around the world. They will send out Isaribi in their country of origin and outlying areas. Without our partners, shipping prices would be more expensive, and their services keeps the shipping rates at a fair price so you can focus on gaming!
Risks and challenges
Eagle-Gryphon Games stands by our products. If there are issues with your game, please contact our customer service department within 30 days of receiving your copy of the game that you have pledged for. We will take every step necessary to get you exactly what you purchased. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Shipping issues are relatively uncommon, but they do sometimes occur, especially when shipping to destinations outside of the US. We will send you tracking information when it is possible, but sometimes it is not. We cannot guarantee that there will not be local shipping problems, as we cannot guarantee the service and reliability of the various postal/delivery services involved around the world. You will have to assume that risk along with us.
We double check all of your games for damage before packing them up to send to you, however there is a small chance that your games may get damaged during shipping by the carrier. Please keep in mind that we did not cause that damage, nor are we responsible for it. If your package is damaged then your first recourse should be to recover your losses from the carrier, not us. If you are still struggling to find a solution through your carrier then we can try to assist you.
We will always do our best through Kickstarter updates to keep you as informed as possible to the status of your game(s). However, in this business there are a number of uncertain and ever changing factors that are beyond our control, such as: holidays, customs, quality control, inspection delays, inclement weather and dock strikes - to name a few. As you can imagine we have little to no control over such factors, but if anything is to occur we assure you that you will be the first to know.
To put it simply, you will get everything you are promised when you pledge to one of our Kickstarter Projects, and it will be delivered to you in as timely a manner as possible.
Shipping can be problematic and expensive. We ask that you are patient and tolerant and share the burden with us of making sure that shipping is as positive an experience as it can be. But be aware of what is involved please.
We ship your game(s) to you via various fulfillment partners located around the world. We do this in an effort to keep expenses as low possible, and hope that you will see this change reflected in the shipping costs for this project.
Shipping is far more comprehensive than many people realize. Not only does “shipping” include the postage cost, it also includes: getting the container shipped to the US, or the EU, or Australia; the Customs and VAT (or equivalent) and other import fees and taxes; the drayage from the port to the warehouse; the warehouse fees to unload and sort out and prepare packages; the materials and labor involved in the last item; fees to the warehouse for their service to us. Only after all of that, do we consider the postage! We need to cover all of those costs--and they really add up. Frequently they cost as much or more than the game(s) did to produce.
When we combine a low margin price (such as the one we offer on all of our KS projects) with this shipping expense, we do not make any profit if we are not very careful. We hope that the shipping we are charging for this project is as low as we can make it and still stay in business. We ask that you understand this, and when we occasionally make mistakes in quoting shipping expenses, please be tolerant. We will give you a refund if we must make shipping fee changes and they are not acceptable to you.
We also reserve the right to combine the shipping of any and all pledges for multiple KS projects if the projects and the shipping are run close to the same time and if we can ship them all within a reasonable time (30 days) of us receiving them of course, we will advise you ASAP if it looks like we will be holding up shipping for this reason and you will always have the right to pay additional fees to get expedited delivery on individual orders/pledges.
Internationally, for unusual shipping destinations or multiple games, get in touch with us and tell us the total of how many games you want; which ones; and where you would like them shipped.
To get in touch with us, please send us a Message (not a Comment) using the "Contact Me" button at the top of the KS project. Or email us at: email@example.com
We will not ship to Russia, the Ukraine and select places in Asia and the rest of the world, except for specially-made arrangements wherein the Backer takes the risk involved in receiving the package.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
