Chimera & More brings you into a world inspired by an entire family of traditional Chinese climbing and shedding card games such as Big Two and Fight The Landlord. Modern card games derived from this game genre include Tichu, Haggis, and Chimera.
The Chimera & More 90-card deck covers both the original 54-card 3-player version (first published in 2014) as well as the NEW 90-card 5-player version being introduced in this Kickstarter.

Review and Overviews of Chimera
The gameplay for Chimera for 3 and for 5 players is essentially the same. The difference for 5-player is that there is a partner for the Chimera and there are more cards plus the special Messenger Bird Cards. I hope to get a review of Chimera for 5-players in the near future, but cannot guarantee it in time for this Kickstarter --Ralph

At first, I liked Tichu more than Chimera...
Then I rethought my position, and now like Chimera more.
Its main criticism is about the traps giving points only to the Chimera... I believe this is done to give an incentive to play as the Chimera. Playing as the Chimera is where the points are at and if it's not rewarding enough, it's no use to play. Bidding on him is great, but bidding high is risky. Not only will you have 3 more cards to shed, your opponents will pass cards and have optimized hands where you will not. I think it's a brilliant design.
But what I absolutely love in Chimera are the limited partnerships. Sure, the Hunters are working together... but the fact is, in the endgame, only 1 player will win. This creates situations where the hunters will intentionally occasionally sabotage themselves to get a hand full of 2 and 11s... Not a lot of games have this kind of "limited partnerships" mechanics where you can't always trust the other player.
In Tichu, if you have a bad partner, you'll have a miserable time. In Chimera... it doesn't matter much. The game is much less player-dependant and that's a good thing.
We have included a pledge level for all 13 games for the USA and Canada. You will also be able to add on any single games you like via the Pledge Manager once the campaign ends.
Ralph H. Anderson started playing games with his father at age 5 and learned checkers and chess at an early age. He progressed to bridge, Hearts, and poker by high school and has been a card game enthusiast ever since. When Euro games and Magic: The Gathering hit in the 90's Ralph dove in and has been working in the game hobby industry for the past 25 years both professionally and privately.
With over 25 years of play testing for many game designers including Mike Fitzgerald, Mac Gerdts, and Peter Hawes as well as publishers including ZMAN Games, U.S. Games Systerms Inc., and Eggertspiele, Ralph finally designed and published his first game, Chimera, in 2014. Chimera & More builds on this first endeavor by expanding it from a 3-player only game to a 3-and-5-player only game.
Before joining the hobby game industry, Ralph spent 25 years in theatre as a director, actor, teacher, and professional fight choreographer. He even appeared on stage at the Metropolitan Opera with Pavarotti (holding a spear but not singing).
Ralph also worked for HBO for 19 years and was the manager of service support for HBO employees.
Ralph and his wife Sandy have 4 wonderful cats and love to play games and travel. He has also been know to brew beer and visit craft breweries in his spare time.

This publication of Chimera & More is a collaborative effort including both the designer, Ralph H. Anderson, and Eagle-Gryphon Games. The game is complete as it is and we will not be adding any stretch goals. We have included two themed bonus cards in the deck to round it out. This enables you to use the 92-card deck for many public domain card games in addition to Chimera for 3-and-5-players.

We reserve the right to combine the shipping of any and all pledges for multiple projects if the shipping runs close to the same time and we can ship them all within a reasonable time frame (30 days) of us receiving them. We will advise you as soon as possible if it looks like we will delay shipping for this reason. You will always have the right to pay additional fees to get expedited delivery on orders.
Shipping issues are relatively uncommon, but they do sometimes occur. We double check all of your games for damage before sending them to you. However, there is a small chance that your games may get damaged during shipping by the carrier. If your package is damaged, please contact us so we can assist you.
