About this project

The first steps

We want to make the feature film of Jeff Kristian's much loved comedy novel "Where D'Ya Put Yer Willy?" This is the first step towards creating a fun and entertaining venture, by which the published book leads to the film… which leads to the stage shows… that lead to a series of clubs… all of which brings hilarious, exciting entertainment to a whole range of people. That is the total venture - but the first part of this goal is to raise the funds needed to commission a feature film script.

Your involvement on Kickstarter would help demonstrate that there are a large number of people who want to see this happen, and getting on board with this project will make others want to enjoy the ride. You would help others to recognise the huge audience for this subject matter.

Why is it needed?

From Jeff Kristian’s book, we initially want to have written a feature film script created by a professional Scriptwriter who will craft a crisp, funny and rousing written work. This will interest a Director who will in turn be able to attract interesting and viable Talent, to make a great movie that gets a huge audience. A strong industry script will be the first major step to creating a very entertaining, comical and spectacular feature film.

Who is behind the project?

Jeff Kristian has written the book based on his life and extraordinary experiences in the drag industry. He has appeared many times on television, in film and for many years in cabaret across the country. His "Jeff Kristian Show" is the longest running drag show is Soho's history. Currently, he is presenting a weekly piece for American television.

Barry Chattington owned his own film post-production company where a huge number of Oscar winning productions were finished, many hundreds of television dramas and thousands of award winning commercials. He was Chairman of the Directors Guild of Great Britain and ran Elstree Film Studios where a large number of major productions, including "Star Wars", "The Shining" and "Indiana Jones" were filmed.

Why do we need the money?

£20,000 is the minimum for a pre-production script from a professional Scriptwriter. It will be based on the book and will contain some of its brand-new musical numbers, as performed on stage at the fictional drag club "Madam Fifi’s Sugar Sugar", where much of the story's action takes place.

If we exceed the goal?

We have prepared a complete schedule of pre-production costs. Each additional piece of funding will allow us to make the entire package more attractive to the Talent. One example of how we can do this is by taking the original song demos recorded by Jeff and making them into industry standard film recordings… yes, this is an all singing, high-kicking musical!

The paperback, e-Book, i-Book and Kindle version of "Where D'Ya Put Yer Willy?" are obtainable from http://www.jeffkristian.com/willybook.html

Risks and challenges

Using the experience of the principals, and advice from others, the first task is to identify a Scriptwriter who will take the 350-page book and make the project crackle with excitement, attracting a Director and subsequently the Talent. This in turn attracts further investment and movies get made.

There is a risk that we finish up with a script that no one wants to be a part of, but it's very hard for the industry to ignore an audience that wants to get involved – which is why we chose you much respected Kickstarters as our starting point.
