What is the risk?
There is absolutely no risk! As always, here at Kickstarter you will not be charged for your donation unless we meet our $20,000 goal! If we meet our goal, you get great rewards!
What exactly will I be funding?
Your funding will go towards purchasing my minimum order quantity of the products shown in the video. When creating clothing of this quality, to strict specifications, you cannot have small quantities manufactured. Large production is the only option for us, thus we need a pretty good chunk of cash to actually produce these fantastic products! Any funding over the $20,000 goal will go towards producing more designs, and products for our launch.
Why the name LOCD?
LOCD stands for Left Of Center Designs. This name comes from LOCD being a bit different than the rest of the clothing companies out there. Of course LOCD cares about making a profit, how else could we come back season after season and bring innovative styles to the market? However, LOCD's main priority is to create a reputable brand name, fantastic products consumers will truly enjoy, and only the highest quality goods. Hey, LOCD even loves to give back; though we are small we have already donated over a hundred hoodies to Clothes 4 Souls! If this isn't all a bit left of center for a clothing company, I don't know what is!
Why did you start LOCD?
Ever since I was little I have had an interest in clothing. I loved to go to my favorite stores and pick out that one article of clothing that fit me, and my style just right. However, after finding those unique pieces, I was only able to wear and wash them a few times before they would start falling apart and look raggedy. I could not stand this, so at 15 I made it my mission to create a different kind of clothing company; one that truly cared about pleasing those who wore it's products. I wanted to create clothing that was unique, looked great, and actually lasted.
How did LOCD get to this point?
I started out by printing unique designs on high quality blank tees in my garage. I sold the tee shirts to friends, family, and kids at school. Printing my designs on tees was a lot of fun, but I soon realized that I could only go so far with that type of production. I needed a way to create clothing from the ground up, so I could make the company I originally envisioned. After much research, I set out to find the perfect manufacturer that could create my clothing to my exact specifications. I needed a manufacturer that was reliable, easy to communicate with, and experienced. Four (4) manufacturers, and four (4) years later, I have built a great relationship with that perfect manufacturer. They have over 25 years of experience, produce for some of the biggest brands, can manufacture internationally as well as domestically, and create only quality goods. Now that I have some fantastic samples from this manufacturer, I just need the funding to produce the minimum order quantity so that I can get my collection in stores. It has been a long road, but from here only the sky is the limit!
For LOCD, Kickstarter may just be a blessing. We have thought of getting investors in order to receive the funding we need to meet our minimum order quantities, but that would create a kink in what LOCD is trying to accomplish. An investor would mean that LOCD wouldn't have 100% control. LOCD needs 100% control of it's future profits so that we can put it towards what will really make LOCD bloom, and towards giving back to the community.
