About this project
The Axeman Cometh
Southern Gothic - a genre of Southern writing. The stories often focus on grotesque themes. While it may include supernatural elements, it mainly focuses on damaged, even delusional, characters.
Crime Noir - generally refers to mystery and crime dramas produced from the early 1940s to the late 1950s. Movies of this genre were characteristically shot in black and white, and featured stories involving femmes fatales, doomed heroes or anti-heroes, and tough, cynical detectives
The Axeman Cometh is a 28 page Southern Gothic/Crime Noir set in the late 1920's. The lead character, Robert Flint, a down on his luck private detective from Chicago, takes on the case of Southern debutante Virginia Westmire, whose family has been recently murdered in New Orleans.
The story takes Flint and his partner on a mind bending journey from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi where Flint is convinced this serial killer will strike next. But, will this sick game of cat and mouse prove to be his undoing?
The Axeman Cometh is a collaboration between myself and the ultra-talented Pete Davies (the PXD). The story is inspired by three real unsolved murder cases from the late 1800's and early 1900's, and is written and illustrated with a classic Hitchcock feel. The book takes the reader on a spine tingling thrill ride that ends in a surprising twist that would make Rod Serling stand up and take notice.

If we reach our initial goal, we have stretch goals to get the comic colored etc. and we will offer some great rewards for reaching these goals.

The teaser posters for the project are a nod to the amazing movie posters from 1950's and 60's B-movies. Pete and I hope you enjoy them, and the comic. Here is a little taste of a couple of the teasers!
Risks and challenges
As with any independent project, a number of challenges can arrive. As the artist works a full time job,and the holidays are around the corner, the delivery time may be later than what is indicated. We will keep everyone informed if the January delivery date changes. Also, if we reach the stretch goal of 2750.00, we will be able to afford coloring the comic. This will delay delivery as well as the colorist will need time to finish the book. We will send out plenty of emails to inform our backers of any delays, and will ensure them that we are doing our absolute best to get the product in their hands. Also, if there are any delays we will offer extra perks for our backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
