- Valhalla -
noun | Val·hal·la | \val-ˈha-lə also väl-ˈhä-\
1 : the great hall in Norse mythology where heroes slain in battle are received
2 : a place of honor, glory, or happiness : heaven
This retreat is appropriately named in celebration of our favorite pastime, tabletop wargaming!
The event runs from October 6th to October 11th, 2019.
Valhalla is a 5 night, 4 day gaming retreat in the beautiful Utah mountains. You will stay at a luxurious mansion sized cabin in Heber Canyon equipped with a pool, hot tub, sauna, gaming room, entertainment room, and full time chef.
This is NOT a wargaming convention, Valhalla is a wargamer's retreat!
Each pledge level is for a ticket to this event. Pre-sale is required to ensure Valhalla can happen.
The gaming hall is open 24 hours so you can game to your heart's content. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided so there is no need to leave the lodge if you do not want to!
You will arrive at the cabin Sunday afternoon on October 6th, 2019 and leave Friday morning October 11th, 2019.
We will be offering limited shuttle service from the airport to the lodge on Sunday and Friday only.
Warhammer 40K territory campaign:
We had a wonderful and very casual territory campaign in 2018 which will continue in 2019. Returning attendees can continue their conquest across the Valhalla system. Players can at any time during the event challenge other players for territory on map.
Bolt Action / Konflikt '47
We had an awesome Bolt Action/Konflikt '47 campaign in 2018 and we will have one again for 2019. It will use the Road to Victory campaign system and will allow participants to play a series of games, growing the size of their armies using a unit randomizer to vary unit selection and morale.
Unique challenges will be presented to the participants as they will receive units and fight against force compositions that they might not otherwise see during normal play sessions. The campaign will have an over-arching narrative and feature a final grand battle shaped by the participant’s efforts throughout the event.
As the event gets closer a sign-up request and survey will be made available which will allow us to determine who may be interested in the campaign. This will allow us to provide additional information to the participants and continue planning for the event.
++ Battle Tickets ++
For those purchasing Battle Tickets, there is another lodge being rented nearby that you may be able to rent a bed from.
Contact Chris at email@example.com for details on that. Wargamer Girl Inc is not handling the rental of that cabin so please refer any questions to Chris.
We recommend the nearby cabin since it keeps you in the area so you don't have to deal with the gate and reduces any travel time you might have from town. Both bunks and private rooms are available but contact Chris right away as spots tend to fill quickly and purchasing a battle ticket does NOT guarantee space will be available for you at the off-site cabin.
Here is what each of the rooms look like. Please be sure to carefully read each pledge level to ensure it meets your requirements. Each room can accommodate at least two people, and a few can have three guests.
Here is what the drop pods look like. Please note there is a separate pledge level for top bunk vs bottom bunk.
Your ticket does NOT include travel to Utah, USA. You will have to cover your travel expenses separately.
This will be an adult only, ages 18+ event.
No cancellations! If you find you cannot make it to the event, you may sell your ticket to someone else, but no refunds will be issued.
NO alcohol will be provided for the event. You are allowed to bring your own alcohol as long as it is handled responsibly. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY ALCOHOL BE ALLOWED IN THE POOL AREA, HOT TUB, OR SAUNA. Violation of these rules may result in termination of your stay without a refund.
This is a NON-SMOKING event. You are welcome to smoke outside of the cabin, but NOT on balconies or anywhere inside the cabin.
All guests are responsible for their personal items, Wargamer Girl, Inc is not responsible for any items lost or stolen during the event.
Attendance to Valhalla in the Fall includes your consent and authorization to Wargamer Girl, Inc., and its affiliates and licensees, which include but are not limited to all sponsors, exhibitors and contractors, to photograph or otherwise record your likeness and/or voice and to use same worldwide, for any purpose whatsoever, in any manner or media now know or hereafter devised, in perpetuity; all such photographs and sound recordings to be the sole property of Wargamer Girl, Inc.
The cabin has limited handicap accessibility. The game room is located on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. We will do our best to accommodate your stay but if you believe you will have difficulty managing the stairs then please be aware you may not receive the full benefit of this event.
Risks and challenges
Valhalla is an event that requires a lot of moving parts.
We must rent the cabin well ahead of time
A caterer must be committed to these dates
Transportation must be reserved
Insurance for the event must be purchased
Due to the high upfront cost of creating such an upscale event, pre-sale of tickets is required to ensure there is enough interest in Valhalla.
This is why it is important to pledge, because if there are not enough ticket sales through this Kickstarter, Valhalla in the fall will have to be cancelled.
