About this project
Safely, conveniently and automatically up-right your RC vehicle after it flips over. Now with the press of a button you can return your RC vehicle back onto its wheels for continued driving time!
How we started?
The development of Self-Right System started over a year ago on a 20 year old idea by co-founder Vincent Dimino. A racing enthusiast who has witnessed injuries to hobbyists and spectators by being struck by a RC vehicle while attempting to self-right a flipped car.
Together with Thomas Pischiera and Rico Pischiera we created Torsional Concepts LLC to develop a robust and easy to implement system that could be used over a large set of different RC vehicles.
After several iterations and a lot of experiments we 3D printed our first prototype and proved both concept and performance.
RhinoForce Self-Right design is now patent pending.
We have recently contacted several suppliers and have built our latest prototype as seen below. This version has been assembled and installed on 3 different cars that have been driven and flipped many, many times with excellent repeatable results. Testing has proven sound design and reliable performance.
What is RhinoForce S2?
How many times has your RC car flipped over and all you ever wanted was a simple way to flip it back over and just have fun, instead, you have to stop driving, physically go to your car and manually pick it up and turn it over every time it flips over. Now you can do it automatically without moving a step!
The vehicles used to test the RhinoForce S2 are Traxxas Slash 4x4, Team Associated SC10 4x4 and Trinigy Trooper 4x4. The short video below demonstrates how easily they up-right to driving position.
RhinoForce will transform the hobby by introducing to the world the first automatic RC vehicle flipper. The design is compact, robust, light, and easy to assemble.
How does RhinoForce S2 work?
Our patent pending design stores torsional or spring energy which is transformed into a rotational force on the RhinoForce S2 Flip Plate. The flip plate once released will rotate your car back onto its wheels once it has been overturned. Simple and you’re ready to drive off again!
All you have to do is lock the RhinoForce S2 Flip Plate by simply pressing it into place and setting the latch and now you’re ready to drive your RC vehicle as before. If you were wondering, S2 stands for "Single Shot". Should your vehicle overturn, all you need to do is activate RhinoForce S2 with your remote control. That’s it; the latch will release the flip plate resulting in the up-right of your vehicle.

How does RhinoForce S2 add convenience to the hobby?
RC vehicles are heavy and can exceed speeds of 60 MPH. Let’s face it; at those speeds and mass a sharp turn or obstruction in its path could easily bring your short course truck to roll over. This is a hobby for all ages and there are a lot of people out there running around on tracks and in city streets to self-right their trucks instead of enjoying and driving their vehicles.
It is not uncommon to have volunteers (both adults and children) positioned throughout the race course whose main purpose is to flip over cars that roll over while racing. If your one of those people just imagine, you might be able to enjoy the race for once from the sideline instead of running around the track self-righting trucks. RhinoForce S2 could minimize the need for placing volunteers by conveniently self-righting the tuck when you need it most.
Not everyone races; however, many use the public streets to drive their RC vehicles. Using RhinoForce S2 would self-right the RC vehicle and minimize the need to be in the city street. This would provide the convenience in the movement of your vehicle back onto its wheels and away from oncoming traffic while minimizing yourself and loved ones from entering busy city streets.
RhinoForce S2 Components and Accessories:
RhinoForce S2 System comes complete with easy instructions to assemble and options with servo and or roll cage. Online tutorials are planned to show assembly, installation and body modifications. Assembly is simple, requiring common hand tools. We are also starting to work with roll cage designs and suppliers for RhinoForce Ready installation.

February: Finish testing pre-production metal assembly and final integration testing on three short course trucks.
March: Clean up final mechanical drawings and release to suppliers for quote. Complete bill of material (BOM) which are all commercial off the shelf (COTS) components, documentation, and packaging.
April: Order material, packaging, decals and print documentation.
June: Receive and inspect material. Build a few samples from production run and test.
July: Package and ship the first production units.
Sheet metal parts have been sent out for quote with reasonable cycle times of 4 to 6 weeks delivery for first production lot. The majority of the BOM are COTS with that are readily available with short delivery cycle times. Our pre-production test samples performed and represent our final version with minor adjustments. Our best scenario is that we expect to start shipping production units in mid-July.
Why we need you
For the past year we have been designing, testing and optimizing the RhinoForce S2 system for production launch. We have established manufacturers and suppliers and are ready to begin production soon. Your support will help fund the first production lot so you can be the first to enjoy RhinoForce S2 on your RC car!
The funding will back the cost of final tooling, manufacturing and distribution. We will also be using the funding to support additional vehicle types and sizes. Future development of additional features are planned. Your support and pledge will bring RhinoForce S2 to life.

Risks and challenges
There are always risks and challenges facing the development and launch of new technology. Understanding risk management, setting realistic goals and executing to plan are paramount in the success of new ventures. With many years of experience behind us in design, test and management of commercial and ruggedized products we believe that our patent pending RhinoForce S2 is ready for prime time and will transform the RC hobby.
Development: The product was designed for simplicity and being user friendly in mind. We have designed several prototypes, learning from each to establish our RhinoForce S2 baseline.
Requirements: Keep it simple to manufacture and to use by the hobbyist.
Quality: This is a ruggedized piece of hardware that has been designed and modeled for strength and durability. Our prototypes have been tested in the field and have been cycled many times with no failures. To us quality equals satisfied customers.
Product offering: The product will be disturbed as a kit. RhinoForce S2 will be easy to assemble with clear instructions both written and in video form.
Procurement: We have identified several reliable and seasoned suppliers to procure our machined parts and hardware. Quality starts in a sound design, however, the supply chain must also delivery quality components and we believe we have the A team.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
