At the end of 2008, I launched the project "I'll have my facebook portrait painted by Matt Held" with the intention of building a large collection of paintings sourced from photographs of individuals on facebook, sum 200. From it's inception, this project has been 100% self-funded and in the beginning, I estimated that it would take nearly two years to finish. The first phase of this project will wrap up towards the end of this year around 100 paintings and as such, we are looking to prepare for the second phase. However, the second phase will look a little different...
Phase II of the portrait painted project will continue to be sourced from facebook and the existing group members, but in a more interactive manner. While I am not ready to fully divulge the exact details of this phase, I do know the basics will require a larger space to work in as the works themselves will be done on a much larger scale.
I am looking to raise enough funds to find a functional work space at a reasonable cost and purchase enough supplies to see it through completion. If you would like to support this project, you can pledge any amount you wish. However, if the monetary goal set forth is not achieved, you will have no obligation to pay. The pledge thresholds are designed for all supporters to receive a valuable gift as a thank you for your continued support of me and this project. (The image for the portrait card will be a new image not yet shared with the public. As a pledgee, you will be the first to see it!)
