WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?
Antebellum, is a period piece set in the deep south right before the beginning of the civil war. Susan, the main character, is a young girl who has grown up entertaining herself on her family's plantation. One day while playing in the creek, Susan finds a locked wooden box but cannot find the key that fits it. Throughout the story suspense builds as the civil war looms closer and closer and Susan desperately searches for a way to open the box as her curiosity starts to get the best of her.
WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
Travel: Along with the normal expenses of making a film, this film is particularly expensive because we have to travel. We will be bringing a crew of atleast 15 people as well as equipment from Savannah College of Art and Design is Savannah, GA to Franklin, TN where our shooting locations are. With gas prices, a truck for equipment, as well as lodging and food costs this can be very pricey.
Production Design: Because this is a period piece, it is CRUCIAL that everything be done well to replicate how things looked in the 1800s. This involves buying furniture and props from antique stores as well as doing renovations on the actual locations themselves. We will also need to buy fabric for costumes as well as rent some costumes from local rental houses.
Film Equipment: Fortunately, we have access to SCAD film equipment for free, but there are additional items we will need to rent from studios in order to achieve the visual style we want for this film.
Food: Because this shoot will go for four straight days and our crew is comprised of students volunteering their time, food is the best way for a director to show gratitude to its crew who is working so hard for them. Therefore I want my crew to have good food on set but feeding a crew of 15 plus actors 3 meals a day can get expensive. Your funds will help feed our awesome crew of students who are volunteering so much of their time to this project!
Festival Fees: I have high hopes for this film, so I plan on entering it in film festivals across the US. Many festivals however have high entry fees so in order for this film to get its chance at success, we will need the funds to be able to enter the film in festivals.
WHO, WHERE, WHEN?
Shooting Dates: April 19-22
Shooting Location: Franklin, TN
The film should be in it's finished stages by September 2012 and will hopefully be submitted to film festivals in the fall.
Even if you just give $1 , I want to already thank you in advance for your contribution. We could not make this film without your help, and by donating you are giving a crew of students the opportunity to create something that they have already put so much time and effort into because they believe in the project and we want you to believe in it too!
