See.Sense ACE : Development Updates

Dear Backers,

We hope you're enjoying your ACE. We're continuing to work on the development of new mounts, rounding out the Android app, ANT+ enhancements and more. ACE has the same tech architecture as our new ICON2 and BEAM lights, meaning that anything developed for one, is easily shared with the others. All three are very much at the forefront of development and receiving our full focus.

Android App

Thanks for your support with the beta. We've ironed out a lot of bugs and are testing the next iteration with increased functionality. All being well, we'll release it in the next week.

ANT+

We've developed and are debugging multichannel support. This will take a bit of time as Garmin devices differ in their implementations of the standard, so we have lots of testing and debug to do.

GoPro Mount

We've had a few requests for GoPro mounts. There is not enough demand to justify a tool to produce them, but we wanted to provide you with a solution. We're doing final testing on a custom 3D printed mount.

Once ready, you'll be able to personalise and print it on Shapeways for around £5.

      Hi Tim,
We're testing it further at the moment - if all is well, we should release in the next week or so.
      Thanks.

Any idea when this Gopro mount might be available?

      Hi

I am very please with my See Sense lights (having bought 4 sets!) and have had enquiries from several envious friends.

However having used the clip system to attach my rear light to my saddle bag as my seat post isn’t long enough, after use this week it has fallen off and is lost. As my husband has also lost his rear light (gift from me) under very similar circumstances I conclude that the clip fixing isn’t fit for purpose.

Obviously we now have two incomplete sets of bike lights 😢

I look forward to hearing from you.

      Hi Virginia,
Sorry to hear about that. Could you drop us a support ticket via the website so we can investigate further? We have seen a small number of cases and are keen to see if we can find any common thread of why it very occasionally happens. We're only designing half the interface, as we don't control what you clip it to, hence there is a lot of variation.
      Thanks,
      Philip

      Hi
I am delighted with my See Sense lights, and have received positibe feedback from friends.

However as I do not have enough space in my seat post I used the cycle clip mount to attach the light to my saddle bag. Unfortunately it unclipoed and fell off in use and I have lost my rear light. I don’t believe this will be an isolated incident as my husband (gift from me) has also lost his u set very similar circumstances.

On this basis I would question whether the cup system is fit for purpose.

We now only have half a set of lights each 😢

Hi, thanks for considering how to attach the ACE onto a GoPro mount.

I did my own design and 3D printed an attachment to allow an ICON to be attached to a GoPro mount and I use it with a K-Edge combo mount. This saves handlebar space as the K-Edge mount has the GPS on top and the ICON is attached to the GoPro mount at the bottom.

      https://k-edge.com/shop/computer-mounts/wahoo-mounts/k-edge-wahoo-pro-combo-mount/

Can See Sense check that their GoPro mount will work with products like the K-Edge?

The K-Edge GoPro mount is pointed vertically downwards therefore the light GoPro mount will need to be at 90 degrees to this to face forward.

It looks like there may not be enough room for the light to face forward without snagging the bottom of the K-Edge mount as the light would need to be mounted vertically because of the orientation of the GoPro attachment.

My design was a simple cylinder with a GoPro attachment on it. The cylinder was 31.8mm diameter like many handlebars, therefore the ICON (or ACE) could be attached to it using existing mounts, just like attaching the light to a handlebar. I can send photos.

How about a mount to connect the Ace to a Garmin ‘out front’ mount? The connection would sandwich between the Garmin mount and the Garmin computer.

That's great. No need for a warranty on a download!

If I could have the final test printed go pro mount that’d be cracking.... I’ll give you £5.... haha

I would also be very interested in a download of the go pro mount. I wanted to 3d print something similar right from the beginning!

    13. See.Sense 4-time creator on

Hi Paul - we could, but it would be without any warranty as many printers may not have the tolerance or material strength to do it properly. Unless you have something like a Form2?

    14. Paul Rowan on

Are you going to release the STL so we can print them ourselves?

Hi Oscar - we could, but it would be without any warranty as many printers may not have the tolerance or material strength to do it properly. Unless you have something like a Form2?
Hi Jimmy - it's Wahoo that don't support lights, not the other way around. Do drop them a line and request it, it should be possible with a Wahoo firmware update. Thanks.

    16. Jimmy Brough on

      Thanks for the update.

WRT Ant+ support. Is this for Garmin devices only or do you expect this to work for other vendors? I have a Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt

    17. Oscar Schofield on

Thanks for updating about the android app, looking forward to the new update.
Will you be making the Gopro mount available to download? I have a 3d printer and I'd be interested in making one.
      Thanks!

Hi Ken - great question! They're in production at the moment, so we should have them in stock later this month. Thanks, Philip
